But I don't really know. Perhaps so long as you bath/disinfect it frequently it would be ok.

mrsdonkeybucket · 03/06/2011 22:59

Beer

I'm fucked anyway, and I smoke, have 2 dogs, 3 cats and a robo hamster !

Grin

Milly

How badly is it ripped ? Is it bleeding ?

DooinMeCleanin · 03/06/2011 23:01

Beer, I am a dog owning smoker. And I own a cat who goes outdoors and I work outside the home.

fifi25 · 03/06/2011 23:02

Been to whitley bay today, didnt notice any no dog signs. Seen no dog shit just loads of litter lying around

MillyR · 03/06/2011 23:02

It has kind or ripped away from the wick thing inside it, but not come off at the top so that the claw casing is now curled around the wick thing.

It happened to the other dog a couple of years back - well it actually split the casing, and it had to have antibiotics and wear a sock.

I do not want this one to get infected, but am worried that the position of the claw irritating the wick thing underneath.

usualsuspect · 03/06/2011 23:02

Smoking ,dog owning ,ff feeding ,tv watching ,McDonalds eating, laminate floor owning, dummy giving,ds playing, child ear piercing

put them all in one thread please ,judge the fuckers all in one go

MillyR · 03/06/2011 23:04

I mean that the claw is curled around the wick thing in an unnatural direction - kind of somehow sideways on. I am not describing this well. It is not bleeding and the dog is not licking it a lot.

mrsdonkeybucket · 03/06/2011 23:04

And my dogs aren't really dogs they are a very special breed who need to be on a lead at all times, and are beautifully behaved wherever we go.

It's the pesky bloomin' kids who screech "OOOH .....breed of dog" (usually wrong) and immediately come up to them for a cuddle/stroke "cos I seen 'em on the telly".

mrsdonkeybucket · 03/06/2011 23:06

Milly

Can you not get a pair of clippers and cut the worst of it ?

Regarding infection, I think if you cannot get to vets or have a "bandage" maybe regularly wash with a bit of salt water to keep it clean ?

HTH

DooinMeCleanin · 03/06/2011 23:06

I have laminate flooring too. My family own two nintendo ds, a Wii and an x-box Blush. Am I doomed?

mrsdonkeybucket, clearly you don't want to out yourself by naming the breed but I'm intrigued. Can I ask why your dogs need to be on a lead all the time? All I can think of is one of the restricted breeds, owned under license.

i don't smoke, ff, have laminate, own a games console, have dc with pierced ears or eat mcdonalds....

can i please be let off for being a dog owner in these circumstances even though i have two Grin

i don't want to be on the naughty thread!

PaddingtonStare · 03/06/2011 23:11

Beer, with one exception, because he's stoopid young and over-friendly, all the Mals and Huskies I know can be and are walked off lead where it's safe and appropriate to do so.

Funnily, one Mal, who is totally adorable, well behaved and loves everyone, lives by the coast and often runs free on the beach. Long may it continue.

mrsdonkeybucket · 03/06/2011 23:11

Beer

Excellent guesses ! Smile

Paddington

No wont 'out' me ! They are Siberian Huskies.

Cannot go off-lead as will run away and never come back.

usualsuspect · 03/06/2011 23:13

oh oh oh I wear jeggings

[help me]

mrsdonkeybucket · 03/06/2011 23:13

Paddington

Been owner for over 12 years.

Huskies CANNOT run off lead. Ever.

PaddingtonStare · 03/06/2011 23:13

Ah ha! I see your point, mrsdonkey. :)

Lovely dogs, what a bugger that they'd run off. But, you're another example of a responsible owner - you know that you could lose them or that they might bound up to unsuspecting strangers (not that this one would complain!) so you take measures to prevent it.

bumpsoon · 03/06/2011 23:14

I have a dog , i have a toddler ,well he toddles now ,was a crawler before , my dog poos in the garden ,i pick up dog poo as soon as dog does it , plus i get dog regularly wormed .
tryingtobemarypoppins i assume you and other family members poo in your house ,albiet in a toilet ? I also assume that a crawling baby may touch that toilet and can i also assume that you and your family members are not wormed nearly regularly as my dog ?
I agree with you though ,that dog poo is minging and anyone who doesnt pick up after their dog ,should have it rubbed in thier hair whilst they sleep !

MillyR · 03/06/2011 23:15

My SIL has a Siberian Husky. She took it on because it wasn't wanted. Her solution has been to let if off the lead in tennis courts with high fencing around. That way it can chase balls. She also exercises it by her cycling with the dog on the lead but running.

DooinMeCleanin · 03/06/2011 23:15

No herladyship, you cannot be excused for owning a dog

Don't worry only the best mnetters make it to the hall of shame Grin

fistbumps mrsdonkeybucket

I use very, very long leads on the beach. We only go to deserted dog-friendly beaches out of season to avoid clotheslining people. Grin

PaddingtonStare · 03/06/2011 23:17

Clearly I'm just lucky to know some obedient Huskies! :) The three which I know well (two in one household, another singleton) plus several I've met whilst out with my own dogs over the years, are allowed to run offlead and do so without a problem.

I can see that because of the nature of the breed though this isn't going to be the case with all of them.
