RIght OP: no one should ever be ashamed of his/her sexual fantasies. Many people have unacceptable fantasies that are not sexual (ever been annoyed enough with a colleague to think, briefly, about shooting him/her? Doesn't mean you're going to do it.) As to whether women who are turned on by being sexually submissive are letting womanhood down, well, they're not. ANy more than women who would rather be SAHMs are letting womanhood down. The problem here is the insistence by idiots that what any one woman does is proof of what all women really like/want/need. Generally, people who are interested enough in BDSM to seek out and socialise with other people who share that interest tend to be people who consider their actions and their choices and their turn ons, who understand the difference between fantasy and reality, and only want to enact their fantasies with other consenting adults.
