It is just hideous how the war has become almost wallpaper.
The thread could have been useful but we all got our wires crossed from the off.

Perhaps a better title will come along in News or somewhere.

I know too little about it. I would welcome reading more from people closer to it and better informed about it.

Aibu is always a shit place for serious topics.

I got exactly what you meant SEA..and agree with you

No need to apologise ..some people just want a fight

I'm sick to the stomach of reading headlines about young lads being killed too

i did post in 'in the news' and got 6 replies i know what aibu can be like but just felt angry at that moment last night and knew more people would post in this topic. should have thought about title a little more but i just didn't!

Arguably, it's all "our" mess in the first place, given the funding and training the west gave to the mujahidin during the years of the Soviet occupation. The Taliban began their atrocities very shortly after the Sov withdrawal (under 2 years), and Bin Laden also benefitted during that time.

We reap what we sow.

I am sick of it too south. Sick in the way you are. Sick of knowing yet another mother has lost her child. Sick of knowing the havoc wrecked by this war on the service personnel and their families and the civilians living in the areas.

It is totally and utterly sickening.

I am married to an ex serviceman. He served in GW 1. What a momumental waste of fucking time and life that was.
He was treated with contempt when he left the army and I cant help but think that in the next few years will we have hundreds of ex service personell filling our prisons, rehab units and on the streets as they are spat out by the army etc and left to fend for themselves.

If they take support off of double amputees because they have 'new' legs what are they going to do for all those with invisable disabilities like PTSD?

Feck all, thats what.

I am sorry its off topic but the heros of today are going to be the 'scroungers' of tommorow.

You see if I'm wrong.

Pag I didn't mention putting anyone into a camp. I just want that clarified. I actually think we're singing from the same songsheet - I agree it would have been flamed regardless of poster. My point is that old MNers can cock up just as much as newbies. No-one is infallible.
