If you remove the words 'hearing about' I assume that is nearer to what the OP actually means

onagar · 29/05/2011 22:14

It's no good explaining that they have it wrong. I tried doing that in another thread earlier, but no one listens.

UrsulaBuffay · 29/05/2011 22:15

MN would edit the title if you asked. The daft thing is everyone seems to be in agreement otherwise.

CrapBag · 29/05/2011 22:15

I can't actually read the reports as it breaks my heart. I know they signed up to fight but it seems such a waste of a young life.

Gutted that my brother is in the Army. Sister is in the Navy but at least they stay on the ship, which she is coming off soon anyway.

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 22:16

ok ok I missed the point...

but there's not quite saying what you mean... and then there's this....

Mollydollydoll · 29/05/2011 22:16

Explain how I'm up for a scrap I Want examples my dear.
The OP needed to reword what she wrote I'm not the only one that said that funnyinthegarden

MadamMemoo · 29/05/2011 22:16

crapbag sorry, totally misunderstood

shineoncrazydiam0nd · 29/05/2011 22:16

Good god - this place is just proper mental these days.

I totally understand what SEA is saying. And did so from the start of thread.

Mollydollydoll · 29/05/2011 22:17

I guess funny will be calling me a troll next lol

DoingTheBestICan · 29/05/2011 22:18

I totally agree CrapBag,when you see their handsome faces on the tv or in the paper it breaks me heart, that is someones son/daughter/husband/wife.

I know they signed up for a life in the army & what that entails but to lose a relative for a really pointless war is just so sad.

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/05/2011 22:19

Unfortunate thread title but it makes me sick too.

Actually, I think the worst thing is that it's even possible for the OP's 'sick of' to be plausible interpreted as 'bored of' by so many of us - it's only possible to make that interpretation because so many soldiers have died and they've been fighting there so long.

southeastastra · 29/05/2011 22:21

meditrina · 29/05/2011 22:21

To clarify dateline for withdrawal - reduction will begin in 2012 with aim of complete withdrawal by late 2014: article quoting Cameron earlier this month here.

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 22:22

Crapbag I wasn't calling you Madam, I was referring to Madammeemoo

'scuse me for not refreshing the page quick enough.

And I retract my troll accusation.

Lets not get shirty about who was here first Hmm

Mollydollydoll · 29/05/2011 22:22

And funny I speak my mind it's not all heart and flowers and bunny rabbits. I'm honest with my points of view and I have been today on all my posts.

UrsulaBuffay · 29/05/2011 22:23

Shall we all have a bit of a cuddle? :)

Mollydollydoll · 29/05/2011 22:24

As I said southeast I read it wrong so apologises I'm
big and ugly enough to say sorry when I'm in the wrong

Mollydollydoll · 29/05/2011 22:24

Ok Ursula x

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 22:24

me too Molly, shall we sit on the thinking chair?

LaWeasel · 29/05/2011 22:25

I hate it too. They should never be in this position. We shouldn't still be sending people out there when we know the plan is to leave soon, having achieved nothing much.

It reminds me of the soldiers who were killed after WW2 was declared over because the message didn't get through.

Except there isn't any excuse for it.

LadyBeagleEyes · 29/05/2011 22:25

Why is the OP getting such a hard time?
It was totally clear what she meant when you read her post.
And yes OP, as a mother of a son who will be 16 soon, watching the reports of those young men dying for a cause that is not even clear sickens me too.
My son has no interest in joining the army, and I'm so thankful for that.
