god soooo boring.

giveitago · 27/05/2011 14:35

Yeah - just checked out the site and I see what you mean in some cases

BUT on the other hand, as much as mn has alot of advice for people, it's the same bloody site that has the most bonkers take on multiculturalism (imo) aka one thread - oh you're a racist - you're a fucking bnp member and then if you don't understand other cultures - then one thread later when someone is having an issue with overseas inlaw it's all 'well you ABU because didn't you under THEIR culture when you married them.

Really don't get it.

BitOfFun · 27/05/2011 14:42

But we don't have moderators Confused

Is Jane claiming that Justine rocked up and was abusive to her? I'm sorry I missed that.

cjbk1 · 27/05/2011 14:47

yeah im on netmums too and i defended MN and said at least u can be honest on here and its more of a laugh..but the threads still rumbling on

BitOfFun · 27/05/2011 14:48

Are you on netmums, cjbk1? Really?

PortPortBlacksand · 27/05/2011 14:51

Sooo - not a Troll then? Confused

PortPortBlacksand · 27/05/2011 14:52

sorry - wrong thread - trying to keep up (and failing)

HelenMumsnet · 27/05/2011 14:54

Hello. We think it might be a good idea to repost JustineMumsnet's post from earlier on in this thread...

@JustineMumsnet

Hi folks, Netmums is clearly a place where lots of folks find succour and support so it would be great if we could just live and let live. (We are feeling sorry for their mods as we know how time-consuming board invasions can be.)

Thanks,
MNHQ

giveitago · 27/05/2011 14:59

What's a mod?

BitOfFun · 27/05/2011 15:00

They drive Italian scooters and dress sharply, giveitago.

giveitago · 27/05/2011 15:02

I do that - but what's a virtual mods on mn

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 27/05/2011 17:31

There isn't any. Unless some cunt one grasses us up from Netmums because they can't handle themselves...then we get the odd ticking off.

NorfolkNChance · 27/05/2011 18:09

Got my fags LOTCM?

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 27/05/2011 18:44

I do, I do.

giveitago · 27/05/2011 19:00

Love MN and it gives great advice but I certainly don't think it's a great authority on alot of things.

My dc school is very MN - and I just saw the most hilarious (yet very sad) mummy fight - all to do with multiculturalism and the vaccine issue.

And it was very sad and as the headteacher came over to break it up it just really reminded me of MN, particularly the irony of the 'arguments'. It was completely Jeremy Vile.

So - MN bigbods - what IS MOD- IS IT method of discussion?

nickelbabe · 28/05/2011 10:47

mod is Moderator - they keep an eye on the boards and remove any nasty posts (or ones that have kicked off)
and they remove swearwords, too saying "do nto attempt to bypass the swearfilter"
that's on other boards, though.
Mumsnet is self-moderated - ie MNHQ only get involved if it gets personal or really hateful (and usually because someone has reported the posts)
