Is having pubic hair deemed unhygienic

Just following on from another thread.
Do people see others who don't shave or wax down below as unhygienic.
Personally I'm smooth below but that's my preference.
What's others views on this?

Do all the people who object to undercarriage 'styling' because it is alledgedly 'porn led' also object to styling the hair on their head to follow current fashion?

In my opinion, the 'nude rude bits' trend at the mo has developed over many years as part of the fashion to wear smaller and smaller underwear in private and smaller and smaller swimwear/jeans waistlines in public. Some of us prefer to tidy up what is on display if what is on display is unattractive to our own eyes.

I have no problem with my naked mohair shorts, put some frilly knickers on the top and I think yuk to the generous number of stray hairs poking out of the sides. Same with hairy legs, in winter: dark hairs sticking out of purple legs and through tights is yuk, in summer: sun bleached hairs on naked tanned legs is fine.

Does porn have a particular impact on (head) hairstyles? Confused

I get a brazilian every month. Feels nice, looks nice, dh hates a full bush! Nothing to do with emulating a girl's body - he also finds hairy pits/legs revolting.

It's just fashion and impossible to go back once you've enjoyed the smoothness!

I'm a regular gym goer so see lots of nudiness in changing rooms - very rare to see full bushes on anyone other than older women.

floweryblue · 26/05/2011 22:14

LRD I didn't mean that I thought head hairstyles were porn led, I meant the exact opposite, head and fanjo styling are fashion led and nought to do with porn!!!

cat I am also a fan of a pungent armpit.

A man who finds body hair revolting? Ah, diddums.

Mumcentreplus · 26/05/2011 22:23

Its doesn't matter..if you want full bush or naked ...personally I don't feel compelled to shave my pum all the time..my DH does it for me and my arm-pits when they get out of control and need pruning...but I don't feel upset if I'm unshaven..it's my natural state..why is it disgusting?..I personally believe that women have been made/encouraged to feel that personal hair is something wrong or disgusting..erm no..but if you choose to shave or not its no big deal..now hairy chins on women...I'm slightly perturbed by this...

Mumcentreplus · 26/05/2011 22:25

Granny with a goatee (I have seen this) concerns me..Grin

smartyparts · 26/05/2011 22:26

Not a twat Grin, just honest when asked! Had never mentioned it before I started having it all whipped off, then admitted how much he liked it..

And without exception, all of my friends who have brazilians, have dh's who er, appreciate it!

We all have preferences - doesn't make us weird. I remind him to trim when he's looking a bit straggly!

5DollarShake · 26/05/2011 22:28

SDTG - clearly I don't have the first clue about your own nether regions. You may well not be prone to infection. But people in general who are totally hair-free are. Your own individual personal circumstances do not change that.

Do whatever you want, clearly. Just stating the overall facts as they apply to the population as a whole.

smartypants - what a charmer. Hmm Don't fancy yours much. Clearly he is totally hair-free himself since he finds body hear so 'revolting'.

Body hair Grin

LRDTheFeministDragon · 26/05/2011 22:31

flowery, sorry if I'm missing something, but the all-off look is de rigeur in porn, no? It's not a trend I've seen a great deal of on the catwalk, myself.

There may be other fine reasons to take it all off, but you surely can't ignore the porn association, even if you then decide that it's not what motivates your own choice?

Mumcentreplus · 26/05/2011 22:37

Facts are back in the day porn women had full bush going on...now they have no bush going on and women suddenly want to be bare ...correlation anyone?

TheCrackFox · 26/05/2011 22:39

I think if a man is seriously disgusted by his partner's pubic hair it means he has looked at a lot of pornography.

Mind you, John Milton was shocked when he saw his wife's pubic hair on his wedding night - the only naked women he had seen before were classical statues!

TheCrackFox · 26/05/2011 22:44

IMO if a man isn't pathetically grateful for what he is given he can piss right off.

Mumcentreplus · 26/05/2011 22:46

I can't believe thats truly the case swc..hard penis turns flacid at the sight of hairs?...I think not..Wink...he's got to be a major weirdo/contol freak

FourFingeredKitkat · 26/05/2011 22:47

Am I missing something, but this constant referral to a "Brazilian" surely means it leaves some on (thin strip) otherwise it would be a "Hollywood".

Seeker- wasn't John Milton blind?

5DollarShake · 26/05/2011 22:49

I wouldn't expect him to be pathetically grateful. Grin But he can fuck right off if he's 'revolted'.

smartypants - I'm guessing you were just exaggerating a bit in the spirit of the thread, and he doesn't actually find a bit of stubble 'revolting'. Right?

seeker · 26/05/2011 22:52

What a bizarre typo. I must be even more of a Grauniad reader than I thought I was!
