I am [shocked] that this is a story tbh, just a group of ladies having fun on a hen night in their own time, there are no children or animals involved, and nobody is having sex in the photos so what! The parents reaction is too strong, as long as the teachers teach their children well so what! So they sit at home and have no fun then! Don't tell me that they have never had any fun themselves! So teachers should sit at home watching Embarassing Bodies on a Friday and Sat night then, to have fun and laughs with their mates would be Shock, really the mentality of some peopl.

In fairness I think you've taken that completely the wrong way and what she meant was whether her kids teachers did or didn't have face-book was never even minutely relevant to her or worth her time to think about, and as such the fact that some parents go face-book stalking them and even printing off stuff makes it all the more bizarre.

tulpe · 21/05/2011 14:58

This story is pathetic. Totally agree with all of you who say that teachers are as entitled to a life outside of school as anyone else. They were stupid to not make sure they were entirely private but that still doesn't mean they should be subjected to this witch hunt.

One of those teachers used to teach at our school. She is the brightest, most caring teacher, totally committed to her pupils and her work. She was highly thought of by students, staff and parents and we were gutted when she moved on. If she were to lose her job over this I would be upset not only for her but for all those children who will lose the chance to be taught by her.

HugoFirst · 21/05/2011 15:04

basi error with privacy

FairhairedandFrustrated · 21/05/2011 15:05

Aw the poor teachers, especially the one who was getting married :( How must she be feeling?

I think the parent who did this should be ashamed of herself.... and there is possible a libel issue there too - could be taken up by the individuals or by the school for calling the staff scum.

I, as a parent, have no problem with staff at my child's school pole dancing, drinking, having a laugh - why in the hell should I? It's no-one business what a teacher gets up to after 3pm!!

Teenytiny · 21/05/2011 15:10

I think if anyone is a disgrace its the parent that posted pics through people's doors. its hardly like they have their bits out

emptyshell · 21/05/2011 15:38

Reading between the lines of the article - I guess the old head got ousted and a group within the school community have had a grudge about it and are shit stirring/going for the new staff who are probably nothing at all to do with the situation in an attempt to get them back into place. I've been in some schools where an old head leaving has practically caused civil war in the past - but seriously!

Fucking vicious though - I mean, whose life is so bloody boring they've got time to sit and put in Facebook names of every teacher in the school, then devote the printer ink (and time spent swearing at the printer if it's anything like mine - oopsy, teacher and I occasionally mutter rude words at technology in the privacy of my own home - shoot me now) and then time to leaflet dropping them around the entire estate and ringing the Daily Wail?!

God someone needs to take up flower arranging or pole dancing or something themselves!

emptyshell · 21/05/2011 15:42

She'd also have had a minor shit fit at some of the antics that go on in staffrooms... the moment a colleague's chicken fillet bra stuffer made a bid for freedom and was promptly used as an impromptu game of volleyball - only to smack the head in the face as he walked into the room mid-toss being one notable incident!

Best places I've ever worked have been positive lunatic asylums in terms of the staff banter and community feel!

Lucyinthepie · 21/05/2011 15:47

Normally I have a rant about teachers having to use Facebook responsibly. In this case however I don't think they did anything wrong. Bearing in mind that no child should be allowed access to Facebook (by the parents!) until they are 13, then there shouldn't be a problem with these photos being seen.

Look at this quote: "?My children have left school now, but other young children on the estate have seen the pictures.?"

Well, if young children have seen the pictures then either their parents have let them look at them on Facebook, or they picked them up off the mat when the nutter parent posted them through the letter box. In the first instance, it's the parents' responsibility. In the second instance, take it up with the nutter mother.

Anyone know the nutter parent? Bring her on here!
I agree with others, this reads as if there are a group of parents who have a vendetta against the current school management, who have grabbed on to this as an excuse.

MotherSnacker · 21/05/2011 15:57

YANBU. What a vindictive cow posting those pics through peoples letterboxes.

"But a teacher is not able to live as they choose necassarily MainlyMaynie.....they are responsible for our DC for a good chunk of their lives...they can't act as they like."

Oh yes they damn well can act as they like in their own time (within the law, like the rest of us).

A good friend of mine is a primary teacher and she's also a swinger! I dearly hope she's one of your DC's teachers. Let that mess with your judgemental head... Wink

tethersend · 21/05/2011 16:18

Sorry, Hugo- PMSL at "basi error" Grin

Pole dancing is a load of old shit, and I will judge anyone who thinks it's great.

But, teachers are allowed to be twats. In some schools I've worked in, it was mandatory.

If she were to lose her job over this

Why would she? She hasn't done anything wrong. I love that the Head told this parent to mind their own business. And what kind of stalker loon prints out photos and writes that the teachers are scum over them? Surely they could be done for harrassment?

MillyR · 21/05/2011 18:35

For people asking why the parents would do such a thing, there is quite a bit of money to be made from creating stories about people in 'respectable professions' and selling them to national newspapers.

claretandcheese · 21/05/2011 18:43

FB is an awful invention and will cause great harm. This is just starting and will get worse. I refuse to have anything to do with it.

Beckyboo4 · 21/05/2011 18:46

I too was a little shocked at the pictures as it looks like a tame hen party to me (in comparison to some of the one's I have been on. Ahhhhh the memories of good times).

Personally all I see are a group of friends enjoying themselves on a night out. No news there.

Goblinchild · 21/05/2011 19:51

I'm delighted that almost everyone thinks that it is a completely disproportionate and stalkerish thing to have done.
For those that feel we should be held accountable 24/7/365 I have a proposition.
You can own me and my rather mundane life. However...
I'm paid around £35K for 1265 hours a year. So that's £27.67 an hour before tax.
£27.67 x (24 x 365) = £242,389 a year. I'd even quit facebook if you like.

ScousyFogarty · 21/05/2011 21:25

yes, somewhat OTT...it happens

dawntigga · 21/05/2011 21:30

OH FFS, how dare teachers be human.

If the Daily Fail only knew what I know about some teachers they'd wet their knickers.

hulababy · 21/05/2011 21:30

I would be more likely to judge the parent who rpinted them and posted them through people's doors than the teachers!!!

TBH this kind of think kind of lies in my head when i go out for drinks in town. I dread having a few drinks and then bumping into parents of pupils.

ind yu, one Sunday night I did call a taxi. Was with DH and DD, then 8y. Had had a few drinks and was going home a bit late - well, 10ish - but late as DD was up and a school night. And taxi driver was a parent of one of the little girl's in my class. Ooops! However, he was lovely we had a laugh about it - and even better, he didn;t even charge me for taking me home!

Spinkle · 21/05/2011 22:51

Am a teacher and am frankly amazed they have the energy to go out and pole dance.

I would add that as a teacher even the contents of my shopping trolley gets scrutinised. I only ever meet the kids and their parents when I'm stocking up on vodka, condoms, tampons and chocolate.

latitude · 21/05/2011 22:53

My brothers a teacher and we went out last night and he got absolutely smashed, even if he did see some parents of pupils I wouldn't like to think he would be seen as any less of a teacher.
