I am [shocked] that this is a story tbh, just a group of ladies having fun on a hen night in their own time, there are no children or animals involved, and nobody is having sex in the photos so what! The parents reaction is too strong, as long as the teachers teach their children well so what! So they sit at home and have no fun then! Don't tell me that they have never had any fun themselves! So teachers should sit at home watching Embarassing Bodies on a Friday and Sat night then, to have fun and laughs with their mates would be Shock, really the mentality of some peopl.

I cannot believe people are going on about 'morality' while repeating self-evident lies from a newspaper. Do none of you think that being truthful and refusing to repeat malicious gossip is part of good moral conduct?

Right on Feenie.

emptyshell · 21/05/2011 13:23

Oh yeah I'm pretty sure parents with a grudge would go trawling facebook for ammo - look at some of the attitudes on here of people who believe they own the very soul of their kids' teachers. Newsflash - my soul is my own between the hours of 3.30pm and 8.45 am the following morning and 24 hours at weekends. If you don't like that idea - tough. We don't get paid enough for our souls to come as part of the deal.

In fact if you've got trouble coming to terms with the shocking realisation that teachers are people too, with lives outside of school (surely it's only the kids who believe we live in the classroom cupboards) - then the fact that teachers drink, smoke, occasionally say a rudey swear word and even have sex will probably blow your mind. Then again, we've had threads on here complaining that teachers have DARED to get pregnant and cause inconvenience so nothing surprises me anymore.

The only thing that was screwed up was that they'd not got their privacy settings locked down tight enough - but considering FB keeps changing the bloody things and making it maximum pain in the arse to get set up - I can partially understand it.

I'd actually rather that the people teaching kids had a clue about the real world to be honest. I remember being taught sex ed by a nun and thinking "what the hell do you know?"

I tow the line of the law, I exercise some sense of awareness (ie I don't stroll down the street outside school chugging away on a ciggie - not that I would anyway since I quit), I make sure that I keep work and private life separate - if that's not enough (and cheesy hen nights are NOT illegal yet... although I'd gladly make them so) then no one would want to work in education anyway!

pigletmania · 21/05/2011 13:31

mumblingRagDoll pole dancing is also used as a way to keep fit, my nieces do it (they are 20, and 23 years), they go to a pole dancing for fitness class so its not all to do with sex. Well said Feeny, I hope that it all backfires on the parents who complained, what shock horror teachers on a night out having fun.

So true emptyshell totally agree with you.

Pictish · 21/05/2011 13:34

And what's the bets that the parent who printed the pics off has thunder thighs and a fat arse, and a face like a burst sofa?

This smacks of jealousy and peevishness rather than any genuine moral outrage...those pics detail nothing worthy of note.

Perhaps the pic printers husband has wee crush on teach? Lol!

Ok...I'm being silly....but truly, no-one who is content within themselves does this. No-one.

I agree with your first paragraph wholeheartedly Emptyshell.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 21/05/2011 13:38

I can't understand what the fuss is about at all! the only pole I am aware of in the story is the one jammed firmly up the malicious spying wummin's arse!

Of course teachers should be entitled to do whatsoever the hell they please outwith school hours! No, they are NOT responsible for my children's moral education- I am. Were MY children to see pictures of THEIR teachers cavorting on FB that would be MY fault, as my primary school children should not be looking at FB. I would actually feel like apologising to the teacher if my child snooped on their FB page.

And actually, the fact that they were all out together having a good time shows me that they are a good team- far better than a school where teachers are bitchy and nasty to each other. If the rest of the parents are as po-faced and vicious as the horrible woman who outed them, I'm sure they will be happy to get out of there. I'll have them at our school, please- they look fun and approachable.

hocuspontas · 21/05/2011 13:39

I agree with emptyshell. I like to think my dds teachers know how to party and have fun, especially with each other because it means the overall atmosphere at school will be friendly and good natured!

StealthPolarBear · 21/05/2011 13:40

"We don't get paid enough for our souls to come as part of the deal."

Very true
And as for moral outrage - it seems OK for MPs who will be paid a multiple of most teachers' salaries to do what the hell they like.

And if the teacher was doing something actually bad and publicising it (slagging off the children or the other teachers, taking drugs, fighting etc) I would be doing my best cats bum mouth and calling for their resignation. This is a few teachers, who all look quite young themselves, letting their hair down a bit.

pigletmania · 21/05/2011 13:45

What teachers do in their own private time is thei,r business not mine, if they like swinging, bondage, or watching footie, so what, its not in the classroom or at school.

OP posts:
springbokscantjump · 21/05/2011 13:47

I cannot believe that there are actually people up in arms over this. That woman who posted the pictures through the letterboxes is just plain odd and vindictive to boot.

For my hen do we had doctors, lawyers, business consultants, journalists etc. We went and got poledancing lessons and got drunk along the way. In our jobs we toe the line and are respectful but on a night out? It's our own lives and as long as we act within the law it's no one's business.

And the lady who taught us was very clear - she is not nor has never been a stripper. She did a show at the end - bugger that, she is an athlete Envy

Bumfuzzle · 21/05/2011 13:48

My god. That's just vicious.

As long as my children's teachers are good, supportive, caring and competent, and they educate my child and guide them appropriately in school, then I don't care if they spend their free time in S&M dungeons trussed up like turkeys!

What someone does in their private life is their business and unless they are bringing behaviours into the workplace that would be inappropriate in that environment, it has no bearing on their ability to do their job.

Cocoflower · 21/05/2011 13:51

VWhat teachers do in their own private time is thei,r business not mine^

The only thing I wouldl like to say though is of course as long as what they are doing is not hurting anyone?

As surely there can be certain behaviours that people would deem have crossed the line and would make someone no longer suitable or desirable? (Hen nights not included!)

Bumfuzzle · 21/05/2011 13:54

Well yes, obviously I refer only to things which are not abusive or unlawful. Same as is expected of everyone.

StellaSays · 21/05/2011 13:54

FFS, that parent must have such a stick up his arse that he can barely sit!

What else do we expect from the Daily Fail though?

yikert · 21/05/2011 13:55

YANBU what teachers do outside of the classroom is their own business provided it doesn't effect their work.

fairydoll · 21/05/2011 14:02

I think it'sfine but publishing them on FB to the world at large I do think is unprofessional. All the teachers I know either keep their profile and pictures private or else have a completely vanilla profile.

BimboNo5 · 21/05/2011 14:03

Im a nurse. Some of our nights/days out would make people's hair curl but what goes out stays out as long as the general public dont know what you get up to whats the problem?

microserf · 21/05/2011 14:18

I feel for them being plastered over the DM. what a vindictive thing for a parent to do. agreed profiles should be private, but the tagging can result in them having a wider distribution than you intend.

handsomeharry · 21/05/2011 14:22

The teachers in question, like all teachers have the right to a private life. However, if they are going to post pictures on their FB pages they have already made them public.

Sorry, but if you want to have a private life - keep it private.

FB by its very nature takes away personal privacy. People overshare, think every minute detail of their daily life is worthy of public notice and seem compelled to photograph themselves and others constantly. This is the result.

I am sympathetic because it must be extremely embarrassing for the individuals in question but am not surprised or outraged.

RockStockandTwoOpenBottles · 21/05/2011 14:30

It's fucking ridiculous. Next they'll be telling us that we're not allowed lives either.

Silly them for not having top privacy settings, but I suppose the parents must all be saints from another planet to feel that I way. OR are they just shocked that these teachers are doing the same as their kids probably are.....

I couldn't give a toss what my DC's teachers get up to when they're not at school, as long as they did their jobs properly when they are in the classrooms. I know it's in the Daily Fail, but seriously?????

TheCowardlyLion · 21/05/2011 14:34

This is why I never put any pics on FB. If any of my students could access my profile (which they can't) the Daily Mail article would be something along the lines of 'Outrage at teacher brazenly photographed with her child/sitting on a chair/walking in the snow' Shock

mayorquimby · 21/05/2011 14:46

what a bunch of faux-moralistic cunts those parents are.
Adults out having fun and not breaking the law, wtf is the problem?

Goblinchild · 21/05/2011 14:47

I think that this is the weirdest statement on this thread.

'tallulahxhunny Sat 21-May-11 11:48:21
i have never even thought of teachers in my kids school having facebook, It seriously never crossed my mind!'

Are we not humans then? Did you believe your mummy when she said that teachers live in their cupboards and get switched on at 8.30am?
Why on earth would we not have the same choices as the rest of you?
