I gather some other parts have had recent rain.? Have you nicked all the rain in the West?

Our farmers are having sleepness nights; and if crops fail, |I dont like to think what basic food prices will be next winter.

couplesd with that, it was so cold this morning I put my winter coat back on ...and slept indoors last night.

If we get desperate are you going to sell us some cut-price water

And set up a cheap rate POTATO EXCHANGE SCHEME?

We haven't had that much rain over here either to be honest (I'm on the north west coast nr liverpool) and we've had a couple of showers in the last few days. Even the thunerstorm last weekend only lasted an hour and it was that warm the pavement dried within 30 mins

I understand what you're saying though, it must be awful to watch carefullt tended crops die because of a lack of water

ashamedandconfused · 14/05/2011 12:15

slept indoors?? where do you usually sleep?

we are in east kent and i can't remember the last time we had proper rain, we have had a coupl of light showers overnight in the last fortnight, but no real rain

It is worrying me, i suspect a hosepipe ban is just around the corner - i am already using water used to boil veg, to water the garden!

fivegomadindorset · 14/05/2011 12:17

Well we have probably had one day in the last three months, silage crop looks crap, which doesn't bode well for winter feeding.

nickelbabe · 14/05/2011 12:18

I can't even use the water I was saving in an open barrel, because it's so long since it rained it has goen stagnant.

TattyDevine · 14/05/2011 12:39

I know...I've just spent £££ having my garden redesigned so there are various new plants that need watering a lot and its a pain...I want some rain!

Though its looking pretty grey out there at the mo...

2rebecca · 14/05/2011 12:41

Plenty of rain in Scotland, but you'd have to stop whining about needing a coat in mid May sometimes and expecting to sleep in the garden.
Are you wanting violins or something?

cardibach · 14/05/2011 12:43

Would we sell you cut price water? Supply and demand, innit. The price would go up Wink

ben5 · 14/05/2011 12:44

whats rain? we live near perth, australia and haven't had that much rain for the last year. we had the driest winter on record last year, followed by a very long and hot summer and still no rain in sight. the last day we had a shower was just over 4 weeks ago. are dams are only 23 per cent full.
if you have any rain can you dig a hole for us to get some to!!

DamselInDisguise · 14/05/2011 12:45

YABU. I live in north east England and it was pissing down yesterday.

Vallhala · 14/05/2011 12:45

Yep, it's been lovely and sunny in the East of England... just the way I like it. What the feck happened to my sunshine these past couple of days though???

And, PLEASE tell me... where DO you normally sleep?

MoreBeta · 14/05/2011 12:46

YANBU My parents (ex farmers) say the East Coast is like a desert. They live in the Vale of Pickering and the sandy soil up there is blowing away. Its a dust bowl era story with dead crops.

ScousyFogarty · 14/05/2011 13:23

"I must sleep indoors tonight" is one of the oldest comic quips in ze book

I had the same problem with "Did you get free underfelt with that suit"
another oldie

Great post, Ben5...never had one from abroad before to my knowledge

How is the next test series going to go with super England?

We've been having some quite groovy storms here (Wiltshire/Somerset).

Beautiful sheets of rain with the sun shining through them and a weekend of thunder (wasn't impressed by that as it happened the first night in about a year that I was home alone).

CountDuckula · 14/05/2011 13:28

YABU, I live on the eastern side of the country and had loads and loads of rain. No trouble for farmers up here in the North.

melezka · 14/05/2011 13:31

Am in Cornwall and we've had Mediterranean weather since middle of Feb.

Originally from Perth though, so it feels all lush and tropical like Grin

SarahStratton · 14/05/2011 13:40

YANBU no rain here in my part of the East Midlands. No rain = no grass. No grass = sodding expensive hay = broke SarahStratton :(

lljkk · 14/05/2011 14:09

Almost No rain in eastern Norfolk in last 2 months (had a splash this afternoon but all dry within an hour). Most lawns now yellow & brown, haven't mowed once this year, no need since no growth :(.

sausagesandmarmelade · 14/05/2011 14:09

Am wondering if/when we will have a hosepipe ban.

It's really weird....we just didn't get the April showers that are the norm here (London) and are still waiting for a proper shower. The clouds keep gathering but still no rain...

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 14/05/2011 15:00

Brown crinkly grass here in Cambridgeshire too. The Express today (saw it in passing at tescos), said we're in for a long hot summer too ! We didn't get much in the way of april showers either come to think of it.

aldiwhore · 14/05/2011 15:02

We've had loads this week after 3 weeks of very little (I'm somewhere between Wrexham and Chester) so hopefully you'll get a bit of our rain... my veggy patch is looking a bit bewildered.

DooinMeCleanin · 14/05/2011 15:03

I'm on the Eastern side of our country and my Yard flooded yesterday.

OppositeOfBlooming · 14/05/2011 15:06

Gabby don't ever change will you?

helewele · 14/05/2011 15:09

Here in Northern Ireland, it's been raining fairly heavily for a few days now, and it's freezing again!!! :(

icooksocks · 14/05/2011 18:33

No rain in Lincolnshire either, although its been cold and overcast today.
