I gather some other parts have had recent rain.? Have you nicked all the rain in the West?

Our farmers are having sleepness nights; and if crops fail, |I dont like to think what basic food prices will be next winter.

couplesd with that, it was so cold this morning I put my winter coat back on ...and slept indoors last night.

If we get desperate are you going to sell us some cut-price water

And set up a cheap rate POTATO EXCHANGE SCHEME?

It's almost as if the clouds are constipated. They keep gathering and the sky goes reeeeeeeeeally dark and grey, the poor clouds are straining away but nothings happening.

fit2drop · 14/05/2011 18:40

icooksocks Im in lincolnshire... and its been raining today
and bucketed down yesterday, only a 10 minute deluge though
but we have had rain for the last few days , sporadic but a few deluges then lots of rainbows :)

Melly19MummyToBe · 14/05/2011 18:44

Where abouts in Lincs are you two then? I'm in Lincs aswell and it hasn't rained where I am! Not been cold either. Bit breezy and grey-ish but mainly sunny!

Melly19MummyToBe · 14/05/2011 18:44

Oh no wait, it dribbled a bit this morning. Unless I just haven't noticed it raining Confused

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 14/05/2011 18:48

No YANBU, it is ALL over here in the east (of europe).
Take it back please, TAKE IT BACK!
We are supposed to have nice weather by now. DD2 is going insane indoors (and me too).

queenrollo · 14/05/2011 19:12

Another Lincolnshire lass here and we had a couple of light showers today and yesterday, but not really enough to make a difference to the garden. I'm watering from our well (and i know i'm lucky to have that) but I fear if this keeps up that the level in that is going to go down soon.

Not a good year for the farmers so far, they lost a lot of the brassica crops with the very cold weather, and now if this dry keeps up the wheat and potato crops will be very poor.

NorfolkNChance · 14/05/2011 19:38

It blardy well chucked it down in East Angular yesterday I'll have you know

DamselInDisguise · 14/05/2011 19:50

Scousy I am a fan of none of the above. Not originally from these parts and, more to the point, cannot even pretend to muster up an interest in sport.

icooksocks · 14/05/2011 19:54

I think there may have been a shower early this morning ut otherwise dry.
I'm Boston way on.

Mirage · 14/05/2011 19:56

I'm in the East Midland too,and it is dire here.We keep getting rain forecast, but the showers seem to skirting us.The sky goes black and the wind gets up,but no rain.Hay is going to be even more expensive than last year at this rate.

icooksocks · 14/05/2011 20:57

I live Pilgrim side (geography seems to have evaded me-I cant remember if its N, E, S or W Blush )

queenrollo · 14/05/2011 21:09

that's North, you must be very near me - i'm about 5 miles out of Boston.

icooksocks · 14/05/2011 21:11

Very near indeed I'm about 7/8 miles down the a16

pizzadelivery · 14/05/2011 22:13

ben5 brilliant! DS used to dig deep in the garden trying to find Australia. If he digs deep enough will swap some sunshine for some water! Grin

Might have to be from the hosepipe (before the ban hits) as South East keeps threatening rain (heavy grey clouds) but not delivering! Smile

Eve · 14/05/2011 22:17

No rain south Hampshire,

Dreading price of horse & human feed!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2011 22:23

It is getting pretty serious. (have had a drought thread running in the weather bit). I've only recored 26mm since the end of February half term. There is no real sign of any proper rain I'm afraid at the moment in the forseeable forecast for many in the south and east. I'd hopes to catch a shower today but they just didnt develop.

lubberlich · 14/05/2011 22:27

Well in Norfolk it pissed down today and I've got the heating back on.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2011 22:40

it is really good you got some lubberlich - you might get a little mid week.

DontCallMePeanut · 14/05/2011 23:00

It tipped it down in Yarmouth about half seven... DS looked out the window and shouted "Look Mummy! It's raining! YAY!" Much to the amusement of McDonalds the posh restaurant we were in...

*nb... In my defence, the trip to McD's was a result of only just getting back from my friend's after the Race For Life... Mummy earned herself a treat Grin

lubberlich · 14/05/2011 23:04

Don'tCallMePeanut - well done you. I went through the whole breast cancer thing a couple of years ago and I applaud anyone who does the Race. Scoff away!

DontCallMePeanut · 14/05/2011 23:11

TY lubberlich! We walked it, unfortunately, as BF's hip was playing up, and myself and her daughter agreed to stay with her, so she had more motivation. I'm sooo proud of her. Her daughter and I are doing it again next year, but running it this time... We joked that if BF wants to keep up, we'll bring a wheelbarrow for her Grin

Glad it sounds likeit's in the past for you, Lubberlich. It's horrible to see anyone go through that. :( My brother was lucky, and has been in remission for seven years, and my former English Lit tutor has been told they don't think it's as aggressive as they previously thought, and she doesn't need chemo. I just wish everyone would get that prognosis though, as I know two people who have stage 3 cancer of various degrees. :(

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 14/05/2011 23:14

YADNBU! Im in North Essex, and we havent had rain for weeks. The farmers round here are rumoured to be watering wheat! I dont have any doubts that it will rain soon, and when it starts it wont stop. The trouble is, that the hay crop isnt growing, there are already people in the uk paying £10 for bales of hay that usually cost £3-£4. The wheat is turning yellow before the ears have developed. This doesnt bode well, and not just for us horse owners. A failed wheat crop will send prices up. And not just bread either. Animal feeds are made from wheat, if it costs more to feed the livestock, the meat and other products will cost more too.

lubberlich · 14/05/2011 23:17

Thank you Peanut. The whole cancer thing is a bugger but lovely peeps like you raising money will put an end to this shitty disease eventually. All the best to your friends and family. My uncle has had bowel cancer twice - in his 30s and then his 50s. He is now 93!
