ChampersPampers · 08/05/2011 11:43

I often meet people who are convinced she was 'bumped off'.
Wondered if it's only small percentage of peoples view or do alot of people believe this so called murder to be true?

True, only my SIL is 100% right 100% of the time Hmm Grin

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 09/05/2011 18:49

No one is entitled to opinions without scorn. People who beleive stupid things have to expect to be told their opinions are stupid. They still have the freedom to believe it though.

brufin....Edward and Sophie's daughter was a bridesmaid.

Balloonslayer....Camilla converted to catholicism in order to marry Parker-Bowles. Unlikely then, that she would re-convert to CofE, in order to marry Charles. The woman might have got a repuation for changing her faith as often as her underwear. Not very credible. Wasn't it about that time Prince Charles started banging on about being "Defender of FAITHS" rather than (as Henry VIII self-styled himself) "Defender of THE Faith". But then, wasn't he another English monarch who changed the rules to accommodate what he wanted in his marrital affairs? A Papal dispensation to marry his brother's wife.... and then a Papal dispensation to divorce her?

And yes, Spencer's youngest children are well......very young. They are related to William and Harry. Camilla's grandaughter is not, as such.

No, I don't like Camilla. She's a trollop in my opinion. Our future Sovereign was no better than any common faithless husband for (pretty much) his entire marriage. I think Diana was a little unhinged but then, she was very young and had the constant spectre of "that woman" under her nose (and feet). Maybe Camilla learned it from her ancestor Mrs Keppell.....a mistress to Edward VII. Her family has form for wheedling their way up that social ladder. She's a baggage.

OriginalFAB....don't read it then, if you're offended. The Royal family have better things to do....? You bet they do. I'm sorry I stumbled on this thread. It's not a discussion that's wanted so much as a nasty slaying of anyone who doesn't agree with the general concensus.

I wouldn't suggest Di was killed. I have absolutely no idea. But, it's very convenient I think, to have her not here now.

Pinot !!

(goes back to twirling my moustache, wondering quite when I had that sex change and went back in time to the Victorian era)

meditrina · 09/05/2011 18:59

Question for those mentioning the Muslim angle. Why were these steps not taken when she was in the much more serious relationship with Hasnat Khan?

Glitterknickaz · 09/05/2011 19:01

omg some people here are quite bonkers...

Nancy66 · 09/05/2011 19:02

Wendi - Diana also had affairs with married men - so (by your standards) she's a 'trollop' as well

beesimo · 09/05/2011 19:06

stop calling people bonkers when they say something you don't like/agree with it is what men say to control women and shut them up!

Just say what a twat if you must but lay off the bonkers.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 09/05/2011 19:06

I mean really, who cares what they do with their dicks and fannys?

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 09/05/2011 19:11

I don't that bonkers is a word applied to women in particular. I do agree you shouldn't call people bonkers because they believe silly things. Lot's of clever, sane people believe stupid things. The doesn't make the things they believe less stupid though.

Yes, Diana had her share of affairs but, I don't think her long time beau was at her and Charles' wedding and certainly, she started off believing it was the real thing and going to be a good marriage. Very young she was. Very naieve. Charles was "with" Camilla before, during and after Diana.

Actually, I'm not a big Diana fan either but I do think they ought to act with a little more decorum, considering the privillaged position they're in. I mean, WHAT are they??

TheOriginalFAB · 09/05/2011 19:18

wendi - I will do what I want thank you.

wendihouse22 · 09/05/2011 19:20

Whatever, love.

PinotGrigiosKittens · 09/05/2011 19:25

FAB is a lovely love actually. She gives me Wine to drink too.

meditrina · 09/05/2011 19:31

wendi: don't fall for the myth of the ever present Camilla. She wasn't Charles' only serious mistress, but was quite deliberately presented as such in the war of the Wales. And you're not allowing for the "code" of Charles's statement of adultery "only when the marriage had broken down", which meant "after she's been unfaithful first".

wendihouse22 · 09/05/2011 19:42

pinot, I don't doubt it!

Meditrina, I do believe Charles actually had a quite a difficult time with Diana. He, and his upbringing, could not possibly have prepared him for the high emotional drama Diana brought to the table. One simply didn't carry on like that.

Charles can shove his code where the sun don't shine for me. In my opinion (and don't shoot me, PLEASE it's only my opinion) I think it more likely that Diana's affairs were immature "tit for tat" efforts in repsonse to his more practiced unfaithfullness.

JUST my opinion.

TheOriginalFAB · 09/05/2011 20:29

I think Diana really loved Charles and was only unfaithful once she knew he had been.

GypsyMoth · 09/05/2011 20:34

wendi,i agree with all you say.

she must have been a handfull! and thinking he wanted the nanny! as if

JimmyChooChoo · 09/05/2011 20:52

Do you think people believe she was murdered because they can't make sense of it just being an accident?
When I heard Henri Paul had worked for the M16 I did question whether it was an accident after all.
Also wasn't it proven Dodi had bought a beautiful ring that cost £130,00 that day?
I think one of Dianas friends(maybe Rosa m)had brushed off the 'engagement' stories saying Di received beautiful gifts from men all the time so a ring didn't have to mean an engagement but still he could have bought a necklace/watch earrings etc.
Also Mohamed Al Fayed swears on his life that he recieved a call saying they were getting engaged.
Btw I don't know if this is the truth but why would the poor man put all his energy going to court cases and fighting for years if hes just making it up?
You probably think the answer is that he's deluded.Maybe he is.Or maybe he's very clever and knows more than we ever will.

It does sound 'bonkers' to alot of people. But you don't know for a fact what happened. So to be so sure that it was 100% accidental maybe you're just as bonkers as the conspiracy theorists.

GypsyMoth · 09/05/2011 21:02

jimmy....read the aechive linked to earlier for the answer to those questions

wendihouse22 · 09/05/2011 21:27

Actually in a eureka moment....I think it was The Queen Mother (ably assisted by her personal footman "Backstairs Billy")....in the Library....with the spanner.

Thank you, and goodnight...

bruffin · 09/05/2011 22:21

Wendihouse

"brufin....Edward and Sophie's daughter was a bridesmaid."

I know I said

"there were no aunts or uncles or cousins except Louise who was a bridesmaid."

Louise is Edwards and Sophies daughter and she is William's cousin.

Interesting article in today's Daily Fail - seems anti-establishment Keith Allen is determined to dredge up the story again showing graphic images of deceased Princess Diana in the car. No doubt painful for Princes William and Harry.

...An extract from the article including a comment from the charmless Mr Allen :

The distressing image, Diana?s blonde hair and features clearly visible, has never been publicly seen in this country.

It will be shown around the world but not in the UK, prompting Allen to say: ?Pity, because at a time when the sugar rush of the royal wedding has been sending republicans into a diabetic coma, it could act as a welcome antidote.?
