DD ate all the grapes before purchase. The checkout assistant actually held up the remains before scanning and said 'What is this?' in a very disapproving voice. All that was left was a plastic bag, a stalk, and few squashed half grapes.Blush

But even worse than that, I LOST my shopping list half way around. We went back to search but it was nowhere to be found. I have to admit in all honesty that it had 'nice ham' written on it!Blush

I am mortified.

Did you know there are bastards who fill up their petrol tank without paying first, and then have the temerity to wander around the petrol station shop getting cappucinos and bags of sweets while their relatives make merry with the petrol via running the engine for air conditioning and the like BEFORE PAYMENT HAS ACTUALLY GONE THROUGH!

Shock

Eating grapes is not theft as long as you have weighed them and you have no intention to deprive the store of payment afterwards. Otherwise you could never have a meal in a restaurant or stay in a hotel without paying up front.

Duh.

OP - don't worry about it. It's just some grapes. My DS3 actually sucked a mini foil wrapped Easter egg from the outer netting packaging before paying and I thought that it was rather clever. I thought most mums open something to calm the kids when shopping. I do and I will continue to do so. They know that things have to be paid for and therefore I don't think it is stealing at all. However, it would be a different story if I knew that I wouldn't/couldn't pay for the item as that would be intentional stealing.

Gina the differnce is that most items aree pre priced, wheraas the grapes are weighed at the till, so the checkout operator could not charge her.
