Grin

OP: How long do I need to cook a soft boiled egg for?

Answer: Soft boiled eggs are very high in cholesterol you know. Why not have some steamed fish?

Answer: Why are you cooking at this time of day?

Answer: Are you pregnant OP? Because you shouldn't eat them soft boiled if you are.

Answer: Have you thought about going on a cookery course OP? Sure Start are running them these days.

Answer: Leave the bastard!!

Grin

This often happens on my threads and it would be useful to be able to say without snark "thanks everyone, but can you all stop [insert phrase here] because I really just need to know how long to boil an egg!"

and LOL at reindeer (with her name ) worried about swearing Grin

Pagwatch · 05/05/2011 22:12

Ooh , irrelevanting was mine! How exciting Grin

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 22:13

I just used ADVICEWANG on a thread.

Calyx · 05/05/2011 22:21

I liked irrelevanting but then I was hit by advicewang... love it!

I am loving this thread :)

Calyx · 05/05/2011 22:25

I think you could advicewang or irrelevant (hmm not a good verb word) as long as you answer the question as well?

Pagwatch · 05/05/2011 22:26

Advicewang is excellent.

KristinaM · 05/05/2011 22:34

so its ok to post " leave the bastard" as long as you also leave a few tips about polishing sinks?

there already is an advice wang

MrsKaravan · 06/05/2011 06:47

Surely it depends how big the egg is....? You didn't specify which species in your OP, OP.

HerHissyness · 06/05/2011 10:42

Of course you do realise that any term created on MN that makes it into the OED will naturally be the property of Mumsnet.....

Tosses Smugvice into the ring....

JamieAgain · 06/05/2011 10:46

Love all these

Advicewang is great, and helpy

Smugvice is a related phenomenon, much beloved of MN

At what point will you take definitive vote, OP

SlightlyJaded · 06/05/2011 14:42

Still like irrelevanting best although I accept the argument about the responses not always being utterly irrelevant.

Topicshifting
Tangentchasing

Although these are verbs and i think we are looking for a noun?

HerHissyness · 06/05/2011 19:45

It's more clustervising really, that deluge of helpy hints and IMHOing..

lubeybooby · 06/05/2011 20:51

Voting for advicewang here!

FellatioNelson · 06/05/2011 20:54

You can't get high cholesterol by eating cholesterol. It's one of the great big fat lies the government tells us. Eggs are fine.

Maybeitsbecause · 06/05/2011 21:01

My 16 yr old niece calls it 'randoming'

e.g. 'I asked her how to boil an egg and she started randoming on about cholesterol levels'

Maybeitsbecause · 06/05/2011 21:01

'randoming on', rather

hormonesnomore · 06/05/2011 21:24

There was so much irrelevanting on your pushchair thread swiperstopswiping it made me Grin (sorry but I found it v. funny).

Did you find a suitable pushchair in the end?

swiperstopswiping · 06/05/2011 21:59

Yeah I bought the Maclaren in the end hormonesnomore.

It was shit. Should have bought the Nipper 360 and got rid of the dog Grin
