OP: How long do I need to cook a soft boiled egg for?

Answer: Soft boiled eggs are very high in cholesterol you know. Why not have some steamed fish?

Answer: Why are you cooking at this time of day?

Answer: Are you pregnant OP? Because you shouldn't eat them soft boiled if you are.

Answer: Have you thought about going on a cookery course OP? Sure Start are running them these days.

Answer: Leave the bastard!!

Grin

This often happens on my threads and it would be useful to be able to say without snark "thanks everyone, but can you all stop [insert phrase here] because I really just need to know how long to boil an egg!"

I like burblejacking and gibberwanking.

colditz · 05/05/2011 17:55

I love Judgeyrupting.

how about Scribbleblurting?

because it's like when you were five, and just finished a piece of work, and some little bastard called Aaron scribbles on it because he thinks he's improved it, but he hasn't.

misshospitalcorners · 05/05/2011 17:56

Another vote here for irreleventing
Please please make it so.

colditz · 05/05/2011 17:58

Anyway there's already a word, it's "Interfering"

WreckoftheHesperus · 05/05/2011 18:01

Oooh - you could create a whole new word, it could go viral on the web and could end up in the Oxford English Dictionary!

Four years, people could be honoring your name. Songs could be sung about you. Plays written.

I like tangentsniping, but maybe too long to type?

moonstorm · 05/05/2011 18:14

For years

Advicewang

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 18:24

Advicewang is GENIUS. Hahahahahaha!

ScousyFogarty · 05/05/2011 18:24

I voted for tranquility

Hullygully · 05/05/2011 18:43

another vote for advicewang

takethisonehereforastart · 05/05/2011 18:46

I liked 'overhelping' but I don't think it suits this sort of thing. The useless irrelevance of the answers is more 'underhelping' because they are nothing to do with the original egg-boiling question or any other use whatsoever (unless the also OP has high-colesterol, a broken clock, a surprise pregnancy, an urge to attend a cookery class and a bastard who needs leaving).

I was hoping to find something in Douglas Adams's Deeper Meaning of Liff but the best he has to offer is 'Clixby', meaning "Politely rude. Briskly vague. Firmly uninformative" and possibly 'Brabant', meaning "very much inclined to see how far you can push someone."

So I'm voting for "clixby-brabanting" or actually I do like "advicewang" too. Grin.

Nanny-stating

TandB · 05/05/2011 19:03

I like irrelevanting!

HarrietJones · 05/05/2011 19:45

Leave him!

ChateauRouge · 05/05/2011 21:17

YANBU- the amount of derailment on here is infuriating atm.
It is impossible to have a serious discussion anymore, let alone a halfway decent conversation.
And there is so much ANGER around...

MercurySoccer · 05/05/2011 21:19

If it's already soft boiled you don't need to cook it

Numberfour · 05/05/2011 21:22

ROFL @ MercurySoccer...... Grin

My X goes to irrelevanting

KristinaM · 05/05/2011 21:46

my X goes to the SNP

talking about the election , have you all voted today?

munkysea · 05/05/2011 21:49

When someone does it in my head I just switch what they've written down to:

Me me me me! Me me me me? Hmm Me me, me me me (me me me me me me me me me...) me me me me me me ME!

Me-me'ing anyone?

ReindeerBollocks · 05/05/2011 21:54

Twatism - those people are irritating but the word twat on it's own offends people - hence twatism. It's not swearing, is it?

I'd second irrelevanting (AV voting style)

Timeforanap · 05/05/2011 21:57

YANBU
I like "helpy" or "overhelping", but "advicewang" is the best of the rest!

KristinaM · 05/05/2011 22:02

Ok, so when is irrelevanting permitted?

i agree its irritating if you just want to boil an egg but you might be better off on Ask Jeeves or just googling it

what about the posts like " please give me tips how to clean my house better because by partner hits me when the house is messy?"

do we still have to direct her to the fly threads?
