Lidl's cooked meat is lovely. I got some great jeans in there for £7.99 today too.

ilovesooty · 13/04/2011 23:18

Oh...and two lovely, warm, freshly baked french sticks for £1.

YABU
You are welcome to Tesco

The shopping experience in Aldi is far better, park 20 yards from the door, in and out in 10 minutes, no marketing and smuggery beaming out at you from every direction, easy to find things because after about 3 visits you'll have learnt the entire store contents off by heart. And everything is cheap.

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 23:21

Lidl have trheir own bakery ilovesooty? I haven't been for a while..

Try Lidl's Parma ham, and then come back and say it's all disgusting.

Also: parmesan
mozzarella
pork & leek sausages
chorizo
vintage cheddar
peanut butter
fruit juice
plain yoghurt
bread flour/mixes
chocolate
Christmas/easter chocs/biscuits

...loads really.

On second thoughts, don't try it because then there'll be more left for the rest of us sensible people.

Hmm

Lidl also do a really good bottle of French Bordeaux (imho) for £3.99 a bottle that goes down a treat. Love rummaging through their bargain baskets where I have found a whole manner of art stuff and paint sets for the children for next to nothing.

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 23:28

I shall nipping to Lidl soon..

They certainly had their own bakery in the one I went to today. I was most impressed as I'm very fond of Aldi's own bread but there were loads of fresh loaves being put out in Lidl today.

Their custard brioches are super, and don't get me started on their vanilla egg custard...

Deafworm · 13/04/2011 23:31

the bakery in mine has been open a couple of weeks, its a bit basic but lovely

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 23:35

Tesco is good for branded offers on products - i like their own products too - most not all

aldi and lidl - not much choice and i didn't enjoy most of their food - used the word disgustimng to get you all going

sainsbury's - nice too - own products better than tesco - their basic range is fab

Waitrose own products are lovley as is marks and sparks

asda i love their item offers, browsing the clothes, household, dvd's etc, but their own products are disgusting mainly

arrud's - gawd knows

harpsichordcarrier · 13/04/2011 23:50

never been to Aldi but afaik Lidl food is just ordinary supermarket food but just from Germany? Anyway perfectly lovely stuff in there imo.
Apart from their cereal, which is RANK because I reckon the Germans don't much go for the old cereal, right?

SolarPanel · 13/04/2011 23:57
Biscuit
YouaretooniceNOT · 14/04/2011 00:04

It's food. Lovely, yummy food. YABU.

People who pretend they don't like it are just attention seeking! Yes!!

Hunger is good sauce as me Mother used to say!

xstitch · 14/04/2011 00:12

Shop at Lidl or starve? Let me think. Yep Lidl it is.

retiredgoth2 · 14/04/2011 00:21

LIDL is fine.

No. Really it is.

Careful selection is required, but hey. Isn't that true everywhere?

CHAVSDA, on the other hand, scares me. I can only presume that their HR department requires that they only employ stupid people with squints. I do not think this unreasonable; as it chimes perfectly with their demographic.

I like shopping in Waitrose. Not because of the undoubted quality of merchandise, but because I enjoy leering at the yummy mummies.

(Y chromosome alert)

Eek. Shouldn't post when drunk.

YouaretooniceNOT · 14/04/2011 00:32

Why is Asda chavvy? I have observed all social classes using that supermarket.

OP posts:
retiredgoth2 · 14/04/2011 00:37

You have???

I have, it's true, seen middle class folk there on occasion.

They look lost, and vaguely shell shocked. I imagine an operative has to escort them to the exit, and offer directions to M&S.

YouaretooniceNOT · 14/04/2011 00:39

So what were YOU doing there in CHAVSDA? retiredgoth2

OP posts:
retiredgoth2 · 14/04/2011 00:45

Missionary work

YouaretooniceNOT · 14/04/2011 00:47

Despite the undoubted hangover.
