Unreasonable DH. Divorce on the cards.

I have been craving spaghetti hoops on toast all day. DH rang me on his way home from soft-play to say he was calling in to Aldi to get some loo roll and then to the Co-Op to get some fruit/bread. Was there anything I wanted, he asked? I said yes please, a big tin of spaghetti hoops.

When he gets back, it seems that apparently he didn't telepathically know that I wanted Heinz hoops and not Aldi's own brand hoops. I am most annoyed. Aldi hoops have watery sauce and the hoops are soggy. This is Not Good Enough.

Looking past the fact that he has looked after DS all day and then taken it upon himself to go and get essential supplies, he is being very unreasonable isn't he? I can't be expected to live like this.

Have you someone nearby who could come and support you through this?

Whereabouts are you OP?

heliumballoons · 13/04/2011 22:14

Have spent a day on the sofa feeling like crap and feel so much better and PMSL after reading this.

Thankyou marmalade for your spaghetti crisis. Grin

goodegg · 13/04/2011 22:17

Does he have any redeeming features OP? Because tbh you need to get your children away from this man immediately, jumping through any hoops necessary.

GreenEyesandHam · 13/04/2011 22:19

If it were me, I don't think I'd be able to get pasta it tbh Sad

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:22

On the surface of it, he has many redeeming features.

He took DS and his chum out all day tody so I could have some QT with the sofa. Plus he got DS fed and bathed for bedtime. Then he cooked the sub-standard hoops, or "hoopz" as Aldi probably call them I couldn't even offend myself by looking at the label, then he came and gave me a footrub.

But it's all smoke and mirrors, innit? So thatI don't suspect anything about his Hollyoak-loving, hoopz-guzzling fancy piece.

OK, I'm really sorry to ask this, and I don't want to get flamed for over-reacting but - honey - what sort of ketchup is there in the cupboard?

Sorry sorry sorry, and (((((hugs)))))

malachysmum · 13/04/2011 22:24

Surely this is just a training issue with this model. You'll need to obtain various type hoops and have him fetch you the right one, when he does it correctly you can use the dog clicker.

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:25

The ketchup situation is OK. We have two, Heinz and Branston, but DH is always trying to railroad me into buying own brand when he knows my palate won't tolerate it :(

OP posts:
Fontsnob · 13/04/2011 22:26

I think now is the time to step back and ask yourself if you are prepared to carry on living in this toxic environment. You never know, it might all end up in own brand ketchup. None of want to see you ending up there.

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:27

PLUS Dh will only ever let me buy Branston baked beans. Not Heinz, not HP only Branston. The one time I bought own-brand, he looked at me liked I'd shit on his plate.

Double-standards or what?

Fontsnob · 13/04/2011 22:27

X-post. But you see, we're all asking the same questions. Hugs hun.

GreenEyesandHam · 13/04/2011 22:29

Oh yeah. It starts with the tinned pasta products, then it's the beans.

Before you know it, your cupboards are bursting with inferior brand condiments and cereals that don't even come with their own box.

These 'men' know what they're doing, sadly

malachysmum · 13/04/2011 22:30

Marmalade you'll never be own brand to us

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:31

malachysmum that made me cry :(

Mumofaflump · 13/04/2011 22:31

Oh dear... I bet he even washed up incorrectly after he made you your (substandard) tea and gave you a foot rub didn't he?

I feel for you. I really, really do.

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:32

The washing-up is still there. Honestly, my marriage is falling apart at the seams.

OP posts:
GreenEyesandHam · 13/04/2011 22:34

Sorry but that would be the dealbreaker for me.

OP leave this man NOW.

QuickLookBusy · 13/04/2011 22:35

Actually marmalade. If you don't mind me asking you such a personal qquestion..which brand of marmalade are you?

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:36

I am Robertson's Marmalade, POST Golly-on-lid.

OP posts:
Mumofaflump · 13/04/2011 22:36

What?!? It is still there!

Leave. Now. I'll come and get you. Even though I'm in my pajamas.

GreenEyesandHam · 13/04/2011 22:37

QuickLookBusy- why on earth would that matter?

I'm actually quite Shock that you would ask that. Marmalade has stated her reasons for feeling like this, christ, have some sensitivity Hmm

QuickLookBusy · 13/04/2011 22:43

Sorry I realise I've overstepped the mark.

I just felt it was an important piece of the jigsaw. If marmalade had been an own brand unless it was waitrose she couldn't really complain about her DH buying aldi hoops.

As she is a quality brand, she does indeed have every right to complain.

QuickLookBusy · 13/04/2011 22:45

I'm leaving this thread now, I really didn't mean to cause offence.Sad

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 22:46

No offence taken even though I am feeling very fragile

BitOfFunnyBunny · 13/04/2011 22:48

I think you are kidding yourself with your excuses for him. A man who does this to the mother of his children is not a good father.
