IABU to think I shouldn't be told off by the police by daring to be a woman out alone after dark?

I was walking through a deserted cut-through at around 11pm, on my way home. I'd been shopping and to the gym, as evidenced by the bags I carried.

I happened across a pair of policemen on bikes, who saw fit to brake and tell me I 'should be careful walking by myself at this time of night'.

IABU to feel angry and offended by this?

exotic Indeed... there is some truth in what you say.

Avantia You poor oppressed woman. Grin

Lucky I just don't understand how someone could be in such a pissy mood after shopping and being at the gym. Sounds like a good day to me, or at least a couple of activities to get over what ever is up your ass. Grin

There is another thread where someone's 20 yr old son has been stopped and searched several times by the police, when he has just been walking alone-I think he has far more cause for complaint than a 'take care'!

If I had time to go to the gym I'd be cheery as anything when a couple of policemen tried to liven up their dull old crime free evening by being human. "Thanks boys!" I'd say "Hope you catch some burglars! and good luck with the paperwork" Then I'd go off whistling the theme from Dixon of Dock Green.
