To think selling your second hand reusable nappies is a bit gross?

Someone I know is selling her reusable nappies, which she has used for her 2 DC.

I know many people pass on baby clothes. I have been glad of hand me downs from friends and relatives but I'd never use second hand reusables. AIBU to think this is a bit gross?

tell you what, why don't you ring nhs direct about it? then you can be the nutjob on those programmes about people wasting nhs resources instead of us.

Lucilliana · 12/11/2011 21:51

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood, no but i would if i shit on them.

JingleAllTheSoddingWay · 12/11/2011 21:51

Erm, both my gp's and my old HV used re usable nappies on their kids. That's what made me look into using them.

Yes, I bought mine 2nd hand then used them on 2 children.

Incidentally, would anyone like around 20 motherease birth to potty nappies with boosters and 4 small airflow wraps and 4 large airflow wraps. Grin

suzikettles · 12/11/2011 21:52

Lucilliana, since washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after going to the toilet is enough to stop the spread of e coli, I really don't think you'll find a GP who has a problem with nappies washed in a washing machine.

Georgimama · 12/11/2011 21:55

well I think we should all be grateful to Lucilliana who has specifically joined MN for this thread poo troll alert.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2011 21:57

Lucilliana (sorry I got your name wrong earlier), have you ever heard of bleach?

naturalbaby · 12/11/2011 21:59

i remember this thread 1st time round.
lucilliana they're washed at 60, with sanitiser if you really want to. they are hygenic and better for babies bums - not to mention the planet you are polluting with your baby's poo/wee filled chemical soaked disposables. although you strike me as a "i can't see it, someone else can deal with it, not my problem" sort of person so i'm sure the thought of the mountain of disposables sitting in landfill that a baby uses in it's lifetime doesn't bother you.

you (and your baby) are at more risk of bugs and germs from going out in public and touching things other people have touched with their hands that they have coughed/sneezed/wiped their bums with and not washed properly.

Lucilliana · 12/11/2011 22:00

I wouldn't put bleach on what i use on my baby's bottom. Specially bad for girls. Now i feel even more sorry for your children.

Georgimama · 12/11/2011 22:01

my children thank you for your pity.

naturalbaby · 12/11/2011 22:01

throw your knickers out after one wear there was a random program on bb3 about people with wierd habits and there was a guy who wore a brand new pair of boxers every single day, then binned them at the end of the day.

MabliD · 12/11/2011 22:04

Is addicted to feeding the troll oh God send help

A midwife presented me with my first bag of reusables. As previously used by her niece. You do know how washing machines work, don't you? Biscuit

JingleAllTheSoddingWay · 12/11/2011 22:05

You wouldn't put bleach near you babies bottom? Do you actually know how many chemicals disposable nappies contain.

At least do some research before spouting your shit.

You don't bleach nappies anyway, the sun does that for you, naturally.

JingleAllTheSoddingWay · 12/11/2011 22:05

your baby's

Too tired!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/11/2011 22:06

Luci, do you accept e coli is killed by washing?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/11/2011 22:08

Jungles, disposables (which BTW I use) are made of spun clouds, and so are naturally white. No bleach needed oh no

JingleAllTheSoddingWay · 12/11/2011 22:09

Hahaha.

Actually we do use disposables now. But we use the Eco-disposables which I really do think are made from the feathers of Angels wings! Grin

Secondtimelucky · 12/11/2011 22:25

Oh god, my sides. Am snurking and DH is looking at me like this Hmm.

I would love to see my doctor's face if I went in and asked about the health dangers of reusables.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 12/11/2011 22:38

... poo troll?

Why? Whyyyyy?

SacreLao · 12/11/2011 22:51

Some of my nappies were given to me second hand BY MY GP so that rubbishes your theory!

Seeing as we are talking nappies, if anyone has any small girly one's they are looking to sell please let me know!

HalleysWaitress · 12/11/2011 23:47

lucilliana - washable nappies are safe. fgs most councils in the uk have schemes to help families buy them to save pennies and the environment. no one is making YOU use them but your objections are quite bonkers. we do BOIL them you know, and use disinfectant.

HalleysWaitress · 12/11/2011 23:50

nearly forgot to say i nearly wet myself over 'disposeable jodphurs'

i sold dd's old velour nappies on ebay just before they put a stop to it. sold them for as much as i bought them for (felt slightly guilty but they were immaculate!)

dd is currently wearing her fetching grey tinged motherease cloth nappies which are 3rd hand (actually might be beyond that who knows i bought them 2nd hand) - call ss!

WibblyBibble · 12/11/2011 23:56

We got given ex-h's old nappies from when he was a baby. Keeping the poo-stains in the family or something. So no, I don't think it's that bad. You know they get washed at 90c in bleach, right? So nothing survives that to be passed on.

mathanxiety · 13/11/2011 00:05

My question too, Reshape Wink

coldwed · 13/11/2011 01:04

I couldn't do it but then I can't even do second hand clothes. Shoot me.

deemented · 13/11/2011 07:42

I converted my GP to the benefits of using cloth nappies. Bad bad Dee Grin

SacreLao I have some small GN fitteds if you'd be interested?
