dog owners in the playpark

Me and ds went to the play park which we regularly use. He loves the slide and plays on it the most.

Today while he was playing on it another mother who decided to bring her dog with her let her dog pee at the bottom of the slide and walked away.

I was really angry as my son was using it at the time and could see he was using it. I thought she'll clean in up surely, but when she walked away i grabbed ds off of it and went after the woman. I said you saw that my son was using that slide and you let that mut piss on it and didn't even clean it up. To which she replied "aye and what!"

So i thought i'm not letting this go, i wait until she left and followed her home, got her address and called the police. Hopefully she gets a nice big fine!!

was ibu?

I run a children's playground in our village and I am a keen dog-owner. Dogs and playgrounds don't go together. We don't allow them in ours for many reasons, including dog pee (and worse). Hopefully she'll get a flea in her ear.

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:26

how ectly do you expect her to clean up wee? granted she shouldnt have let the dog do it on the slide, but calling the police seriously???

babyapplejack · 28/03/2011 18:27

YANBU.

In our nearest small fenced play park, some idiot goes in there with his dog, sits on the bench and lets his dog roam freely around the equipment doing as it pleases.

Think you should have reported her to the council not the police though?

Sirzy · 28/03/2011 18:27

I can understand you being annoyed, I don't like dogs in childrens parks either. BUT you have also been very OTT in your response.

squeakytoy · 28/03/2011 18:27

you called the police???? ffs, dont you think they have enough to do, without going round to check on someone with a pissing dog? you should have rung the council, if you were going to ring anyone about it.

did the dog actually pee ON the slide itself or on the side of it?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/03/2011 18:28

Was it on the slide or on the tarmac?

Does dog urine count under the Dog Fouling Act?

I agree awful behaviour though.

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:28

also verify is it a fenced off ploay area or some play equipment in a larger park? If it is the former then the dog shouldnt have been in there anyway.

Jogon · 28/03/2011 18:29

Most parks have fenced off play equipment where dogs aren't allowed.

TidyDancer · 28/03/2011 18:29

You were massively over the top in your reaction, but I don't think the woman was in the right either. The dog shouldn't have been in the park, obviously, but I can't believe you called the police!

agedknees · 28/03/2011 18:30

Good for you. What a horrid anti-social woman allowing her dog to urinate on childrens play equipment.

mummysgoingmad · 28/03/2011 18:30

yes seriously, if you cant be responsible and clean the mess your pet leaves behind them you shouldn't own a pet! there are designated areas for dogs in the park and the play park isn't one of them.

MmeLindt · 28/03/2011 18:31

I think that letting a dog piss in a playpark is no acceptable.

But following her home and reporting her to the police? Are you nuts?

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:32

as I asked. I agree that the dog shouldnt have been in there, but I am also interested in how you suggest wee is cleaned up. should dog walkers carry a bucket of disinfectant with them?

mummysgoingmad · 28/03/2011 18:33

it urinated on the slide its self so when i child got to the bottom it would be covered in dog piss

OP posts:
mummysgoingmad · 28/03/2011 18:34

baby wipes, or disinfectant wipes, not hard to fit into your bag

OP posts:
scuzy · 28/03/2011 18:34

she shouldnt have let the dog pee on the slide ... but you followed her home????? your mad woman!!!

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:34

that is seriously grim and unacceptable. if it was an area where dogs are not allowed the council are the people you need to call.

MmeLindt · 28/03/2011 18:35

Urgh, that is gross. Don't blame you for being disgusted. Thought you mean on the side of the slide. (which is still nasty but not quite as bad).

Still, following the woman home was daft. What if she had noticed, and turned on you?

fedupofnamechanging · 28/03/2011 18:36

I think YANBU. Letting your dog piss in a children's play area is fucking disgusting and she deserves a fine.

Whilst I accept that in some areas the police are very busy pursuing muggers and rapists, that is not true where I live, so I don't think expecting them to deal with this kind of thing is always taking them away from something more important.

I chose not to have a dog and don't see why I should have to put up with the crap from someone else's.

see I always clean up after my dog, have bags in every p[ocket and bog I own, would never ina million years occur to me to clean up wee. but then I would never let my diog in a playground.

mummysgoingmad · 28/03/2011 18:36

it was her blasé attitude about it, if she apologised i wouldn't of been as angry about it.

OP posts:
DontGoCurly · 28/03/2011 18:38

She sounds like a nasty piece of work.

I'm glad you reported her, i doubt anything will happen though, but it'd be brilliant if it did.

YANBU. If there were more people like you about there'd be less anti-social behaviour!

scuzy · 28/03/2011 18:38

i presume your shild was still with you and you put them in danger following someone home. what if you were spotted and husband/parnter came out and had words???

the dog shouldnt be allowed in around the play area for this very reason but your reaction to follow her home was mad! and if that if your normal reaction i'm afraid to say will get you in trouble some day.

GypsyMoth · 28/03/2011 18:38

what did the police say to you??
