dog owners in the playpark

Me and ds went to the play park which we regularly use. He loves the slide and plays on it the most.

Today while he was playing on it another mother who decided to bring her dog with her let her dog pee at the bottom of the slide and walked away.

I was really angry as my son was using it at the time and could see he was using it. I thought she'll clean in up surely, but when she walked away i grabbed ds off of it and went after the woman. I said you saw that my son was using that slide and you let that mut piss on it and didn't even clean it up. To which she replied "aye and what!"

So i thought i'm not letting this go, i wait until she left and followed her home, got her address and called the police. Hopefully she gets a nice big fine!!

was ibu?

did you know that most dogs wee about every 5 paces when out, we walked 5 miles today, thats a lot of tissues.

mummysgoingmad · 28/03/2011 18:53

police said thanks for letting them know and they would look in to it, the officer actually sounded pretty disgusted

still thing you are mental!!

i agree i would be disgusted at her allowing the dog to pee on the slide while she saw your ds was on it. but have you an idea what other animals are on them at night?!!! how do you know your kid didnt already slide down on dried in pee!!!

i'd be annoyed, say something to her and move on!!! you sound like a crazy woman followin her. you really do!

scuzy · 28/03/2011 18:53

"look into it"

yeah right!

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:55

Scuzy - other animals at night are wild. This is a dog with an owner. The owner ALLOWED the dog to urinate on a childs slide.

The only crazy person in this scenario is the idiot who owns the dog.

Simples.

Actually, I think if she'd nothing else to hand she should have taken off her jacket and used that to wipe up the piss.

I mean, she was perfectly happy for it to be mopped up by a child's clothes so she clearly doesn't think it's too big a deal.

It's just a bit of liquid. I'm sure her jacket would have dried on the walk home. And it's not like it was rat's piss. Just some dog's piss. Why on earth was she being so squeamish about it?

Those of you who think it's no big deal, if your child poured their drink down the slide would you just walk off and leave that too?

euwww I still think it's borderline stalking, and very weird.

ditavonteesed · 28/03/2011 18:59

nobody is saying it is aceeptable, what is bonkers is the suggestion that dog owners shpould clear up all dog wee as I think the dog owners on here have stated that our dogs would not be in the playground.

wild animals wee where ever they happen to be, I would imagine that is often in the p;layground due to dropped food.

Good for you!!!!! I have a dog and I absolutely hate when I am lumped with selfish people who let their dogs foul on public land.

As for peeing in the playpark... it is beyond belief!

I would call the Council though, police may not choose to follow it up.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/03/2011 19:11

"Really dita? If your dog pissed all over the bottom of a slide so that children sliding down it would get their trousers all covered in dog's piss you'd do nothing about it?"

suzi, in the nicest possible way, ditavo had already said that she wouldn't allow her dog into a play area, so that was a bit unnecessary really.

I agree with you, if my (imaginary) dog had weed on a slide I would have move hell and high water to apologise and clear it up. But that's because I'm civilised.

Many people are not, as evidenced by OP's experience today.

Sad
babyapplejack · 28/03/2011 19:11

mummysgoingmad - report this to the council dog warden. It was witnessed and you have the woman's address. They will tackle her about it.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/03/2011 19:12

bit of cross-posts there sorry.

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 19:13

scuzy are you all right dear from all this head banging? Wink

shushpenfold · 28/03/2011 19:16

Good for you!!!

Iggly · 28/03/2011 19:20

Good for you OP. I got pissed off the other day when someone let their dog run about the park playground which is fenced off but the gate was open. She didn't bother calling it just kept walking until it followed.

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 19:26

Just a quick point: antisocial dog owners bring their animals into play area to piss and poo all around partly because no-one says anything. Muttering and leaving in a haste just does not have the same impact as if you (people) said "Absolutely unacceptable, please leave the area or I will be forced to report you to dog warden" in your best stern voice, especially if there are other people around. They are not armed criminals and it is ok to tell them off. They are often already known to the dog warden and there will be another note to go on record before they land with a nice fine. I have done before and it usually works (although sometimes I am told to get lost, after which i do call the council with the dog description).

Abr1de · 28/03/2011 20:30

The usual conversation I have with people goes like this :

Me: Sorry to trouble you but would you mind leaving your dog outside? We are a dog free area.

Dog-owner: He loves children and won't be any trouble.

Me: Even so, I'm afraid he isn't allowed in here.

Dog-owner: Why not?

Me: Because though your dog may be well behaved not all dogs are in if we let in yours other people will bring in theirs. Sometimes dogs foul the grass and that is not nice for the children. Sometimes they chase the children, which scares them.

And so on and on.
