Not quite the same, but I was a youngster in the 70's and can remember my mum having a long purple cape trimmed with fake fur, it was really great for getting into at the bus stop if it was cold

Never mind swishing cloaks for the blokes. I want one for myself, and always have. When I'm old enough to no longer care what people think, I shall have one made.

I think women should wear those tall pointy hats (like acone) with the veil trailing from the point. And those long pointy-sleeved dresses with the petticoat underneath. Very mediaeval.
Men should wear hose and big thigh-high boots with a doublet. And a hat with a feather in it.
