I watched the film Solomon Kane a bit ago and was very impressed with the <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.comingsoon.net/gallery/37883/Solomon_Kane_1.jpg&imgrefurl=www.comingsoon.net/films.php%3Fid%3D37883&usg=__1-0xjyAmjBDwQWBX2Hwge-ooa-U=&h=605&w=453&sz=45&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=RnIBzZC3EYTHjM:&tbnh=140&tbnw=105&ei=Qn2LTcu5HpCJ4QaF9eX6DQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsolomon%2Bkane%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1146%26bih%3D696%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=345&vpy=83&dur=83&hovh=260&hovw=194&tx=115&ty=138&oei=NXqLTfXFDoO1hAf52fHJDQ&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">swirly cape/wide brimmed hat look.

Dramatic entrances/exits, functional (keeping you warm and dry) yet stylish, it cuts a mean silhouette.

I like the thought of David Cameron swirling into a press conference accompanied perhaps with a few boos/hisses?

Not quite the same, but I was a youngster in the 70's and can remember my mum having a long purple cape trimmed with fake fur, it was really great for getting into at the bus stop if it was cold Grin

If you're not keen on the 1600's look, what would you like to see return?

I think I must be just an old romantic at heart because I've always had a thing for tricorn hats as well Blush Grin

What about for women?

Worried your arse looks bigger than you'd like in that new skirt? Care not a jot and just accentuate it with <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=hijabtrendz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/trench2.jpg&imgrefurl=www.hijabtrendz.com/2009/01/25/colorful-trench-coats-usher-in-spring/&usg=__zDwEwKtLU4mYMOFquyf4SHNOTEk=&h=370&w=290&sz=42&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=C2akweynW80ZzM:&tbnh=123&tbnw=96&ei=IH6LTYi7PMrz4QbT8OirDg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbustle%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1146%26bih%3D696%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=441&oei=AH6LTZfxOtGHhQe3goDFDQ&page=1&ndsp=34&ved=1t:429,r:29,s:0&tx=20&ty=65" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">a bustle Grin

YANBU!

I really have a thing for the red waistcoat that the leader of the rebels (Enjolras) wears in Les Miserables - I've discovered that it doesn't matter who is playing him because as long the waistcoat is there I will fancy him. For example see <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/23273_129763030383948_4721_n.jpg&imgrefurl=www.facebook.com/group.php%3Fgid%3D129763030383948&usg=__CLcgx1vgpCXSmv-SxbEoV_O3N7E=&h=152&w=200&sz=11&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gH4OY9ZekTXIdM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=160&ei=7MCLTbSSLM6ChQfrvICdCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmichael%2Bmaguire%2Benjolras%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D870%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=578&vpy=130&dur=842&hovh=121&hovw=160&tx=102&ty=53&oei=7MCLTbSSLM6ChQfrvICdCw&page=1&ndsp=46&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here and <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lf3zvyeY341qej1qro1_500.gif&imgrefurl=forsakenwitchery.tumblr.com/post/2775248431&usg=__aLEcU0ZpAUcbNROKq0s4CzFQffs=&h=250&w=500&sz=475&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=Ksb4nJYuyqyP2M:&tbnh=132&tbnw=176&ei=RMGLTffpFZG4hAeB0uWkCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dramin%2Bkarimloo%2Benjolras%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D870%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C228&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=745&vpy=333&dur=318&hovh=159&hovw=318&tx=189&ty=100&oei=RMGLTffpFZG4hAeB0uWkCw&page=1&ndsp=47&ved=1t:429,r:33,s:0&biw=1680&bih=870" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here

I even have too many a good few military jackets myself.

AgentZigzag · 24/03/2011 22:13

Minus the hat and waistcoat Beers, and that's kind of what DH looked like when I first met him Grin

He was smiling at Flamins nephilim vid.

That cape's definately for a lady of leisure MrsC, can you imagine the weight of it once it's sucked up the mud and water on a crappy autumn day?!

MrsChemist · 24/03/2011 22:15

Sorry to bring this up, but every time I see your name SMIAPS, I can hear the song from the vtech dice Grin

The shiny moon song was my favourite of them all, though I had to hide the bastarding thing in the end, because it nearly drove me to insanity.

TurkeyBurgerThing · 24/03/2011 22:16

I've always fantasised about a dirty orgie with Roman Soldiers

Highwaymen.

Anything that involves tall darkhaired men with a bit of facial hair on horses and an ability to turn women to quivering jelly....

MrsChemist · 24/03/2011 22:16

I'd get a horse to ride everywhere, just for that cape.

I do own a cape actually, but it is nylon and for fancy dress.

FlaminGreatGallah · 24/03/2011 22:19

X-post Turkey Grin

Glad your DH was smiling at the Nephilim. Mine was mocking me Hmm

AtYourCervix · 24/03/2011 22:19

hose.

and a leather jerkin.

AgentZigzag · 24/03/2011 22:20
Grin

Tis true Turkey, it's the bad lad syndrome isn't it?

Black leather and...did you say facial hair on horses?? Shock

Whatever turns you on like.

Great film Beers, voice is like syrup dripping down my thighs.

Nah you see Adam Ant's waistcoat doesn't do it for me. I think it has to be worn with the dishevelled shirt open at the collar [faints] if it's all neat and tucked in it's just not the same.

Which reminds me, we mustn't foget the Pirate look, courtesy of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.deviantart.com/download/165595541/Johnny_Depp_as__Jack_Sparrow_by_iricolor.jpg&imgrefurl=iricolor.deviantart.com/art/Johnny-Depp-as-Jack-Sparrow-165595541%3Fq%3D1%26qo%3D1&usg=__d3f6JOld1N_zyGHBMUBic9GNLkQ=&h=1024&w=1280&sz=434&hl=en&start=33&zoom=1&tbnid=hEBomhihtRZAbM:&tbnh=132&tbnw=163&ei=yMSLTZHmF8ja4gbDv8DaCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcaptain%2Bjack%2Bsparrow%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D870%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C570&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=482&vpy=437&dur=485&hovh=200&hovw=250&tx=147&ty=142&oei=t8SLTfyNJInChAeH08GeCw&page=2&ndsp=54&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:33&biw=1680&bih=870" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Captain Jack Sparrow

There is a fine line between scruffy sexiness and tramp though so they can't get too carried away.

Mrs Chemist I've found the musical non rhyming setting to be much more relaxing!

Pirates are good. I couldn't believe my luck when Johnny Depp was cast as one!

Funnily enough I was saying to DH last night that there isn't a nationwide chain of dressing-up shops for adult men à la Ann Summers and there should be.

Not that I'm keen on Ann Summers but YKWIM.

QuintessentialShadows · 24/03/2011 22:32

I would like to see Cameron dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow. Or Captain Jean Luc Picard. That would suit his hair better, to be honest.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 24/03/2011 22:33

it would need to make rather less use of manmade fabrics than Ann Summers though. Most of the effect of this stuff would be completely ruined if on closer inspection it proved to be polyester rather than rough manly fabrics like wool and 100% linen.

AgentZigzag · 24/03/2011 22:33

I'd have to fight really hard to stop myself cutting off that ridiculous plaited beard thing on C'ptn Sparra Shiny.

Were I ever to meet the ficional character.
