Just happened upon the last one and liked it, so ...

I don't think The King's Speech is that great a film; I think the directing was often unimaginative, cliched and banal and the script obvious. And Helena Bonham Carter wasn't that good.

When making tea straight into a cup, the milk goes in last

When pouring tea from a pot, the milk goes in your cup first

Giving your child the name 'Silver' does not make you sound clever, it makes you sound ridiculous.

catchmeifyoucan · 20/03/2011 19:40

Counsellor / Councillor - is it really that freaking hard to know the difference?

Don't type 'discrete' when you mean 'discreet'

Fuck is my favourite word. It is big and it so is clever.

Iceland sucks.

Skinny people are mostly mean minded thin lipped humourless fucks!

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 20/03/2011 19:40

Oh dear, I love the strawberry roses...

And no, RLPM. Just no.

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 19:40

That's a whole other can 4FA!!! You should hear some of the names down here in Spain....

4FoxAche · 20/03/2011 19:40

Galaxy Chocolate is MUCH nicer than crappy cadburys.

Cadburys Creme Eggs are Vile.

I'm enjoying this thread muchly. Grin

hairylights · 20/03/2011 19:41

I agree about the soldiers and heros thing.

They aren't my heros. I think firefighters are more heros than soldiers.

Perhaps some of them do heroic things, but being a soldier doesn't make them a hero. And the government should look after their care, not organisations like 'help for heros'.

They shouldn't go into the army if they don't want to fight and getting killed is (a very sad) occupational hazard.

blinder · 20/03/2011 19:41

GiveMushyPeasaChance I agree with everything you said. But mushy peas are vile.

Itsjustafleshwound · 20/03/2011 19:41

This is cathartic ....

Things don't just happen out of the blue - people don't change overnight and won't change if the current situation suits them or they are getting some 'pay off'.

Charity begins at home - stop buying Africans goats and be more concerned about the homeless man down the road or the granny living down the road with no support!

I like the BBC and have no problem paying a small fee for a bloody good service.

Don't get all het up about the Census - many of us pass over far more incriminating information to our mobile phone companies, reward cards and never really question or worry about what they do with that!!

Bankers are not all well paid gamblers

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 20/03/2011 19:42

I read the Feminism section because I find the humourlessness funny
Breastfeeding a child older than 2 is weird
People bigger than a size 14 are fat and should do something about it

Runningjustasfastasican · 20/03/2011 19:42

Robbie Williams is an arse

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 19:42

As I'm President allsquare I'll save them all for you next time instead of feeding the bin. You can have any orange type ones too. But not the coffee because I think they're nice. Not as nice as QS Penny Toffees though and noone can have them because they are all for me.

PeterAndreForPM · 20/03/2011 19:45

I contribute to the Feminist section

I am funny

the two are not mutually exclusive

PeterAndreForPM · 20/03/2011 19:46

agree, Robbie Williams is a twunt of an arse

withagoat · 20/03/2011 19:46

i dont know what a phonic is
or give a shit how kids learn to read

and breastfeeding - meh

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 20/03/2011 19:47

I'm not saying all contributors to the feminist section are humourless. But the ones who are, are fucking doozies Grin

Nancy66 · 20/03/2011 19:47

If your kid is thick then private school won't make him/her clever.

Frizzbonce · 20/03/2011 19:48

It disgusts me the way any woman who expresses contentment with her looks/body is seen as big headed or boasty. As though it should be the norm to hate at least one aspect of yourself. And this kind of shit attitude usually comes from other women.

SueWhite · 20/03/2011 19:48

Sometimes counsellors just tell you whatever will stop you feeling miserable. It's not necessarily the truth, or applicable to everyone else in the world.

Small children do not 'need' refined sugar and saturated fat in their diet. Sure, it won't kill them or necessarily even make them obese, but they don't need it.

There is often no difference whatsoever in quality between Primark and M&S.

Strawberry creams are lush and anyone who disagrees is welcome to share a tin of Quality Street with me and eat all the crappy nut ones.

givemushypeasachance · 20/03/2011 19:49

blinder - a confession, I don't actually like mushy peas EXCEPT if they're the minted mushy peas you get from Pieminister in Bristol when you have pie, mash, mush 'n' gravy as part of "The Mothership" meal deal.

Then it is definitely worth giving them a chance! Grin

YouTry · 20/03/2011 19:49

Interesting, PeterAndre. I've never met an amusing feminist in RL... The ones I met at uni were VERY serious.

I hate it when people have, say, half a glass of wine and then cover their glass with their hand and say "Not for me, I don't drink really". Live a little! Have a whole glass! Have two!

PeterAndreForPM · 20/03/2011 19:51

I am a feminist with a SOH

they exist

you have been talking to the wrong ones...or perhaps you haven't been listening properly Smile

YouTry · 20/03/2011 19:51

And actually, while i'm on the subject, I once offered someone a crisp in a pub. She said "Oh, no thanks, I just had a J2O and I always think they are much more of a meal than a drink". That opinion was very unpopular with me!

PeterAndreForPM · 20/03/2011 19:51

< is on 3rd glass of wine >

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 19:51

As any fule kno the milk goes in last.

Pixar films are shit.

Anyone who reads A Boy Called It type misery memoirs needs to have a serious word with themselves.

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 19:52

I will share them with you, Sue, however I must have access to all the toffee ones too.
