Just happened upon the last one and liked it, so ...

I don't think The King's Speech is that great a film; I think the directing was often unimaginative, cliched and banal and the script obvious. And Helena Bonham Carter wasn't that good.

It is possible that better comedy may appear once BBC7 is re-branded as 4Xtra. But I'm not holding my breath.

It's a shame about the plays, I used to love them years ago. But my overwhelming thoughts now is "Who is this aimed at?!"

BringBackGoingForGold · 22/03/2011 18:43

Don't know the News Quiz but yeah, love the shipping forecast. Just love that it exists, really.

Woman's Hour is variable but sometimes good. Listened to a weird documentary wittering on about Wittgenstein (or was it Kierkegaard ...?) the other day. On a Saturday afternoon! Good for a laugh with the household though.

I actually think a wee tiny bit of "children should be seen and not heard" is quite a Good Thing.
Other peoples children are usually awful - and I'd often like to hiss at them. There! I said it!

BringBackGoingForGold · 22/03/2011 18:48

Salmotrutta, agreed!

Oh - and as for Ian Hislop? I said it first and the rest of you copied me, so there!

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 18:51

Hahahaha Salmo I was waiting to see what you may throw in today!! I appear to agree with you yet again and I too feel that sometimes they should indeed be seen and not heard. And I got 4 of them!!! Come here, i'll share your shield and we can pop into town for some whistles.

Salmotrutta · 22/03/2011 18:56

It's a deal boo - I could do with a good old fashined wolf whistle. Grin

Salmotrutta · 22/03/2011 18:56

fashioned even.

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 18:58

And just to really piss you off, used to live 3 doors down from Mr Hislop and older DDs were at playgroup with younger Hislop offspring. They don't live there anymore though, but older DD sees said son at parties. Shall I fix you up!!!!????

Salmotrutta · 22/03/2011 19:02

Oh, and I get irritated with people who do keep fit stuff. You annoy me, so shut up - I don't want to hear about your "regime" and your Zumba class.

Salmotrutta · 22/03/2011 19:04

Whaaaat??? ............... Envy

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 19:11

What's keep fit? Confused

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 19:13

There's plenty of them round there. It can be like walking through a middle class issue of Heat magazine at times!!!

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 22/03/2011 20:14

I agree that Ian Hislop is kind of quirky cute, but rather worried that I'm somehow related so reluctant to think anymore about it... Hmm

Yes, squarepants is back in da house!!! Grin
Yo Ladies!!! [mwah]

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 20:28

Why dear allsquare? Are you bald and look a bit like a baby????? Grin

Good evening - look how far we got without major incident. How proud you must be!!!

feggyart · 22/03/2011 20:32

I think anyone over the age of thirty is too old to be a bridesmaid.

When your child thumps mine DEAL WITH IT Dont roll your eys saying " Boys will be boys"

Just because I am overweight and do the school run in my scruffs does not mean I am a thick slob. I have a professional qualification, work in a demanding job and have a damn good life. Stop judging me.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 22/03/2011 20:51

PMSL (Grin)

Been a good girl today, went for a long walk :)
then took DS for his first McDs and he had a whole chicken nugget Grin

Weyhey, only 150 to go and only two (I think?) deleted posts.
I think that is def an achievement that deserves a toast!

Wine

Controlled crying is not child abuse.

robotlollypopman · 22/03/2011 20:55

Controlled crying is horrible and child abuse.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 22/03/2011 20:56

no it isnt.

Itsjustafleshwound · 22/03/2011 20:59

If you have to ask an AIBU question you probably are or are trying to justify the unjustifiable ...

robotlollypopman · 22/03/2011 21:00

If I made a series of beeps because my parts needed oiling but somebody decided that I should just be left in the shed for the night and I'd stop beeping eventually, that would be wrong too. What if I had stopped beeping because my batteries had died?

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 22/03/2011 21:02

well if we were doing CB (controlled beeping) we would be checking on you to make sure nothing is wrong, you are just beeping for attention... Grin

boosmummie · 22/03/2011 21:07

Grin You must be so proud allsquare, a whole nugget, I trust you recorded it and took photographs for the family album. Has he got his sovereign ring and diamond stud yet, or was that next week's outing??

Controlled crying is currently working for my DD2 because she's in a narky mood and ranting.

However, she is 16½ and has just split up with her boyfriend, so frankly she'll live.
