Just happened upon the last one and liked it, so ...

I don't think The King's Speech is that great a film; I think the directing was often unimaginative, cliched and banal and the script obvious. And Helena Bonham Carter wasn't that good.

I can't believe other people also fancy Ian Hislop. It's a secret crush I've never admitted to before!

I think Paul Merton is likely to find out that some mumsnetters fancy Ian Hislop and maybe he'll mention it on Have I got News for you!

I also don't like Ant and Dec.

YouTry · 22/03/2011 09:00

I've said it before but I have to say it again because I've just seen him on the telly... I actually love Ronan Keating. I think he is the love of my life...

bupcakesandcunting · 22/03/2011 09:18

Doesn't Ronan Keating look like a young Clint Eastwood?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 22/03/2011 09:22

Bumblingbovine - I had two homebirths, but in fairness, I have to admit that I am absolutely barking. Grin

Pagwatch - don't worry - I saw the irony. In fact, people keep missing my irony on MN - I need an "I'm being ironic icon".

On home ed kids and families:

Whereas you, LeQueen, are the epitome of savoir-faire, as your social interventions at Mumsnet show? :)

So do I now get to talk about the way the kids from the local comp behave? Bet that's a bit too unpopular. Grin

100% of men will marry their partner if that is what she really wants and he loves her- any excuses about not needing ' a piece of paper' and so on are rubbish.

sahms should not get a salary. They are already 'paid' by their spouses as they get have a roof over their head for which they make no financial contribution.

Anything 'girly' is highly irritating

sieglinde · 22/03/2011 09:59

Oh, are you sure, Queen (if I may - lese-majeste, surely?) I mean, you don't want me to talk about how noisy they seem? What if I talked about their accents, or added some mild eugenicist stuff about their facial structures? There HAS to be a bridge too far, even for Mumsnet... Grin

No, I'm all done now. Have had my fun. You guys fight each other. I'll just run the hose over the patch of mud....

bupcakesandcunting · 22/03/2011 10:16

Miller and Armstrong, yes yes yes. I too have a thing for educated and erudite chaps.

LeQueen it totally hit me who you remind me of this morning. It's been bugging me for weeks.

NotaMopsa · 22/03/2011 10:17

Wamster I just have to counter your comment with whom should not have children if they can't be arsed to rear them themselves and dump them in a nursery for the dropouts from the 'unruly local comp' to drag them up

Sorry girl but true

NotaMopsa · 22/03/2011 10:18

hobnobs, similar threads exist (I may have wasted days on end contributed a bit to them). Believe me, Ian Hislop is not an uncommon one. And people have admitted to worse. Start one! Start one! They're such fun.

: I don't think it's that hard to get a 2:1 in your degree, and I find the thought of people who worked really hard and still only managed a 2:2 being allowed to be teachers hair-raising.

Wamster, just to add that as a SAHM, I enable my DH to make his financial contribution to our family, because he has been able to concentrated on his career while I take care of everything else. He hasn't been hindered by being unable to take work trips, or having to leave meetings in order to get to a childminders on time.

That said, I don't expect (or want) the state to pay me for looking after my own children.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 22/03/2011 10:24

I have started another thread regarding my dubious eclectic taste in men.....anyone care to join me.
