Just happened upon the last one and liked it, so ...

I don't think The King's Speech is that great a film; I think the directing was often unimaginative, cliched and banal and the script obvious. And Helena Bonham Carter wasn't that good.

SAHMs who have cleaners are doing their bit to help the economy.
Did someone really say Gordon Brown.Shock

SueWhite · 20/03/2011 22:51

Yeah but some pregnant women don't realise they have a health issue until the blood starts pouring out of them....

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 22:55

'Sending your child to a private school borders on neglect and they might well be damaged for life by the experience'

Yes, the experience of a first class education can be extremely damaging.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 20/03/2011 22:55

and if your birth goes horribly wrong, the midwife can light another aromatherapy candle!

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 22:58

Yes, they could also send you to hospital & let you be seen by the appropriate professionals

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 22:59

I would never change a tyre if there was an available man to do it.
Like wise I reserve the right to say "That's a man's job" whenever I feel like it e.g.

Washing the car
Digging the garden
Changing plugs/dealing with any electrical stuff
Carrying heavy stuff

I also like it when a man holds a door open for me.

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 23:00

As they would if you gave birth in a birth centre & it went tits up

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 23:01

Personally I wouldn't have a home birth, which is just as well really for 3 out of 4 of my children!

But I respect the pain threshold without shit loads of relief those women that can and do, just not for me.

No private school discussions on here.......

Or BF vs. FF

Yes, someone did say Gordon Brown Hmm

Midnight for me and I is tired, keep it light all.....

Night

MadameOvary · 20/03/2011 23:02

Most alcohol is poisonous shite and people who drink every day are sad.(spot the bitter teetotaller who can't hold her drink. At all)

Girlie Anne Summers-type parties are for sheep with no imagination.

People who look like Jordan have no depth or emotional intelligence.

worraliberty · 20/03/2011 23:02

Or she could phone ahead and get you to hospital as a priority.

Or do you think being booked in to a hospital to give birth, means there are teams of surgeons hanging around empty operating theaters wringing their hands and waiting for someone to be wheeled in from the ward nextdoor?

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 23:03

Salmotrutta looking forward to seeing you. All that happens here too! Seriously.

However, I can change a plug and put the rubbish out. But that's more from necessity than wish for the past two months as no longer have man to do it for me Grin

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 23:05

Washing the car
Digging the garden
Changing plugs/dealing with any electrical stuff
Carrying heavy stuff

That is clearly all man's work, no need to even concern yourself with it, as are;

Bins
Recycling
Wood chopping
Fire making
Squirrel shooting

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 20/03/2011 23:07

That's absolutely right Worra - when DS's birth went wrong I had 4 doctors in the room in a space of 20 seconds. Had I been 20 minutes away he probably would have died.

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 23:08

I'll just swap Squirrel shooting for wild boar as that's the main pest here!

I am going to bed. Stop putting amusing things on here.

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 23:10

I like hammering nails in though.

'Tis very cathartic.

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 23:11

Ooooh - wild boar. They're tasty aren't they?

bupcakesandcunting · 20/03/2011 23:13

But if you are 30 minutes drive from a hospital as I am, medical attention would inevitably be further away than if you were IN the hospital. Confused

I firmly believe it is down to personal choice. If you choose a home birth then presumably you know the pros and cons of that choice. However, I don't like being made to feel like a dipstick for choosing to give birth in a hospital when I happen to think childbirth can be a risky thing (as two of my close friends have found out in the last year :() AND in this cash-strapped age, if home birthing was preferable, why aren't the NHS shunting us off to pop our bairns out in our living rooms? Imagine the cash they'd save!

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 23:14

Seriously tasty indeed. My absolute fave.

I'd like to hammer nails in to my ex-p today, but that feeling may pass. Or it may not. Who knows? I suppose it depends on this week and how much of an arse he decides to be!!!!!

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 23:18

Well, here's hoping he doesn't become Mr Arse from Arseville.
Can't have you getting banged up for GBH now can we Grin

worraliberty · 20/03/2011 23:22

And a young mother gave birth in a toilet bowl recently at her local hospital..due to lack of care.

It's a lottery, but ultimately I think hospitals are not the place for healthy women to give birth in.

If anything because many of them are absolutely filthy.

boosmummie · 20/03/2011 23:23

He's bordering on Lord Arse of Arseville (in his mind) at times, but that's a whole rant and scream and swear thread for when I can be bold enough to ask the questions!!!!!

I really am going to bed now Grin, good night.

spiderslegs · 20/03/2011 23:23

Bupcakes - absolutely true - do what you think is best, homebirth/hospital, formula/breast, SAHM/& what ever the other acronym is....

Do what YOU want - who gives a fig about what anyone else thinks. We are incredibly lucky to have that choice.

Unless of course you are a vegeterian, tetotal, born-again christian Gordon Brown fancier in which case you are;

a) wrong

b) in need of psychiatric help

aliciasilverstone · 20/03/2011 23:23

worraliberty, those of us who choose to give birth in hospital aren't wusses, just responsible sensible mothers. I've heard the one before about hospitals being for sick people, what a lot of disingenuous nonsense. Birth is a risky process and I suggest you watch this video and hang your head in shame, in respect for all the women and babies that do not have the choices we have.In fact, anyone who complains about the 'medicalization' of childbirth should feel ashamed after watching this.

IsItMorningTimeYet · 20/03/2011 23:25

There is no better pram/buggy than a bugaboo and they ARE worth the money (3 years solid use out of bugaboo here and it's in perfect condition and back in pram mode for baby number 2).

Babies should not be dressed in anything other than cosy soft babygros/sleeper suits until they are 3 months.

Giving chocolate to babies under 12 months is INSANE. Giving chocolate to children under 24 months is daft. Giving chocolate to 2 year olds and upwards is ok in small enough amounts.

Fizzy drinks are disgusting.

aliciasilverstone · 20/03/2011 23:25

Oh, you silly, misinformed, spoilt woman.
