Sounds like mine too.

5inthebed · 16/03/2011 11:25

Sounds like mine, minus the patio doors.

numptysmummy · 16/03/2011 11:26

Mine too and anyone who doesn't like it can judge on! And i don't always bake birthday cakes either. So there!

reinitindear · 16/03/2011 11:26

I thought you had been looking through my windows Grin.Although I don't have patio doors.

daimbardiva · 16/03/2011 11:27

Mine too - I always wonder what people think of my house, as it always is less clean than friend's houses...

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 16/03/2011 11:27

Nah - so long as you can find your kettle and I can move the crap bits off the settee Grin

But then again - I don't have strong views on whether birthday cakes should be made or bought - so long as I get a bit :)

dottyhenson · 16/03/2011 11:28

that sounds positively immaculate to me Grin

OffToNarnia · 16/03/2011 11:32

Can't bake and messy, cluttered house in need of a skip. I would like to be tidier but doesn't happen. Hoarder husband too. I'm sure people do judge me... hate people who just 'drop in'!!!

lesley33 · 16/03/2011 11:34

I like to keepo my hopuse clean and tidy, but I don't judge others houses.

mrsrobinredbreast · 16/03/2011 11:34

OP, have you been peering through my windows again? Grin

omnishambles · 16/03/2011 11:34

that sounds like my house too - basically clean as long as you dont look at the skirting boards/in the corners/down the side of the dishwasher.

I judge myself for it tbh but have a life and a job and 2 small children so what can you do? other than have cleaners which is what my friends do but I'd rather have the extra money Blush

shockers · 16/03/2011 11:40

No I don't... and if I find you by my patio door again.....

Desperateforthinnerthighs · 16/03/2011 11:53

carried I wondered who had been peeking into my house!!..........cleaning the house when you have kids is like shovelling snow in a snow storm Confused

carriedababi · 16/03/2011 13:55

mine's like that too.
i try to clean one room daily for basic hygiene purposes, but that means at any one time all the rest are dirty.

i do all my own baking though Grin.

ExitPursuedByALamb · 16/03/2011 13:58

To the hell with the house. My cakes are fabulous.

NinthWave · 16/03/2011 14:00

Oh mine must be worse.

The carpet in the living room is HIDEOUS but our landlord is getting a conservatory fitted, and it's being ripped up and wood floor fitted...so I'm not about to fork out for a carpet cleaner!

I did polish/wax the hall & kitchen floor this week, but that was the first time in 6 months.

It's messy but mostly clean :)

MerylStrop · 16/03/2011 14:03

So long as I can sit down on your sofa and not end up dirtier than I started, I judge not.

Hammy02 · 16/03/2011 14:06

My house isn't too bad. I pretty much only clean when we are due to have guests. Fortunately that's quite regularly otherwise I'd be knee deep in muck Grin

bonkers20 · 16/03/2011 14:07

I clean when I am stressed. Nothing like whipping the mop around to get rid of the trials of the day!

I do compare people's houses to my own and yes, I admit that privately (and to my DH) and I happy that my house is cleaner and less cluttered than someone elses. I just can't live with a messy house.
We have a 2 bed house and 4 people in it. We need a bigger house, but until we can get one I take pride in making the one we have got as clean and tidy as I can. There are loads of DIY jobs to do, the windows need painting, most of the walls need a new coat of paint, the carpet is dirty, the coat hooks have fallen off, tiles broken in the bathroom. So to make up for these shortfalls, I clean and tidy.

Having said that, I really wish I could learn to live with lower standards. I think I have a bit of OCD. I just CAN'T not clean to hob every evening. I can't relax.

Sorry, it's just the way I am.

bumpsoon · 16/03/2011 14:18

the only person who's house i judge is my friends ,she doesnt hoover ,but uses a yard broom to sweep the carpet .oh and you keep your shoes firmly on your feet in her house ! However i love this person like a sister and she is in all ways a fantastic friend ,so i accept and embrace her slovenly ways Grin

NotShortImFunSized · 16/03/2011 14:20

Sounds just like mine too Grin

Glad I'm in such good company!

soangryIcouldspit · 16/03/2011 14:22

I judge me for it.

Bumpsoon, I also use a brush to sweep the rug in the living room (on wooden floor) because the vacuum is one of those MASSIVE dyson ones (bought on sale in Tesco some years back) and I struggle with lugging it about the house as I have a dicky back. It does get vacuumed by dh at the weekends and the rug also gets beaten out on the line. Is this disgusting? I didn't think it was too bad but well, if it is or it isn't, it's what's going to happen round these parts until I can afford a full time cleaner new vacuum!
