to be amazed that so many women have never felt their own cervix?

Admittedly I may be biased but I do think it is peculiar that so many women haven't explored their own bodies and even more peculiar that so many women think it is peculiar that I think it is peculiar.

Do you know in life when you think that everyone is privy to some knowledge you don't have? I've always wondered how the hell you were supposed to take a diaphragm out. I've even gone so far as reading instructions but they just seemed to be missing a step. At my last smear the nurse told me I had a long vagina but it's only just twigged with me now that the cervix is something that is just accessible for most women. I just always assumed I had a standard issue model and so was very confused about the mechanics of the thing.

I have got to 44 years of age and 4 children and have never wanted or felt need to get to know my cervix.
Each to their own i guess

i had never inspected mine until last month. it's another thing to add to my Fertility Friend chart Grin

i had always thought it was an odd thing to do when i read about it on ttc forums, however, it takes about 2 seconds and it was interesting to see how it changed before ovulation. although it went so high up i couldn't reach it any more!

Am i right in thinking that the OP is a midwife? hence the cervix coming up in conversation more often than for most of us!

thought I'd read that somewhere atyour, correct me if i made it up. :)

QueenStromba I used a diaphragm for years, because the outside ridge is so sturdy, and it gets kinda 'suctioned' on with the gel,you just lift the ridge away from the cervix with your fingertip, and pull it out with finger and thumb, while praying you don't stick your nail through!... You did ask Grin
