Sounds good to me. Unfortunately my local chippy doesn't open that early. It is fantastic though, a proper northern chippy with steak n kidney puds steaming away at the back (my dad calls them babies heads) and the fish is big and delish. Might go for a chippy tea on Friday. Maybe eating on the street is a bit common, who cares? If you're hungry, go for it.

noodle69 · 02/03/2011 17:09

I personally love eating in the street. It means I can eat countless maccys ds and stay really skinny. I always eat my work lunch when Im moving!

noodle69 · 02/03/2011 17:11

'Apparenlty human beings are supposed to eat main meals in the morning and then smaller meals as the day goes on, so we've been doing it backwards and the person you saw is spot on. I eat main meals in the morning, especially left over takeaway vindaloo, yummy grin'

I agree with this as well. I have always done this and have always been skinny and my friends are constantly on a diet. The reason why is they dont eat much in the morning then are constantly thinking about food and when they get home they eat to much. Whereas I eat loads early on and hardly anything for tea. Its always best to eat more earlier on and less later imo.

rightpissedoff · 02/03/2011 17:12

yes that's very common

noodle69 · 02/03/2011 17:37

It works for me. I usually go mcdonalds or have fried breakfast for breakfast and I maintain 7 and half stone. I have always ate a big breakfast from my teens and it means I dont ever pick and snack.

Salmotrutta · 02/03/2011 17:38

I just ate a Ginsters steak slice on a plate on my knee in the living roomBlush Blush.
Does that mean I'm common ...........

In my defence, it's only me in for tea (shouldn't say "tea" either as that's probably vulgar too!!) and I couldn't be arsed cooking properly.

Will I recover from this socially??

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 17:41

It works for me. I usually go mcdonalds or have fried breakfast for breakfast and I maintain 7 and half stone

I bet 7 stone of that is cholesterol Shock

< is just jealous >

noodle69 · 02/03/2011 17:41

?But that?s not a ?big? breakfast, it?s an enormous breakfast, one that can be as much as 30, 40 or even 60 percent of what you should be eating for the entire day.?

Also whats wrong with that? If you eat a big breakfast it would be hard to eat another big cooked meal later in the day as you would be too full.

MrsH75 · 02/03/2011 17:48

That doesn't work for me noodle. If I have a big breakfast it makes no bloody difference whatsoever to how hungry I get in the afternoon or evening. I wish it were that simple. When I lived in France I put weight on because we ate a main meal at lunch time and I still wanted to eat loads in the evening.

noodle69 · 02/03/2011 17:55

Oh always thought it would. I keep telling people I know to do it as I have some who are very overweight and keep going on diets and try and do a 12 hour shift somedays having only a small bowl of cereal and a salad! They spend all day saying they are hungry and I think that is why they dont lose weight as they go home and eat too much because they have hunger pains/thoughts of food.

I always find if I have eggs, waffles and sausages in the morning before I go out or a mcdonalds then I dont feel hungry. I have a sandwich or something at lunch and a little pasta for tea and thats me done. I do weird things though like order chinese takeaways and save them for the morning and eat them in the morning before work! I dont know why but I love waking up and eating a big meal to start of the day.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 02/03/2011 17:57

All eating in the street is horrible, doesn't matter what the food is.

Dawnyann · 03/03/2011 11:17

Left over pizza is the best for breakfast Blush

Also if eating in the street is not supposed to be the 'done' thang then wot's with all the jacket potatoe stalls & the Mr Sizzle burger vans all without seats anywhere in sight!!!

Mmmmmm Mr sizzle drools :o

hadtochangethename · 03/03/2011 11:20

nope, you shoudnt be walking down the street eating it, take it home at least.

Dawnyann · 03/03/2011 11:23

But it would be cold by the time you got home and it would have prob gone all over the car too cos they're only served in a paper towel!!!!! :o

KnittedBreast · 03/03/2011 11:27

not really no.

KnittedBreast · 03/03/2011 11:28

people are really bothered by eating in the street? must be a british thing because in pretty much every other country soem of the best food is street food and everyone does it!

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:36

Hmm I had cheese and spinach sandwiches for breakfast.

Is it the time of day or the food?

Sounds a very snobby judgement to make.

Maybe you need to move to another area where the only eateries that are open are boutique bistros that serve poached eggs and artisan pastries (occasionally of course)

d0gFace · 03/03/2011 11:39

I dont like eating in the street because it makes me feel abit self-conscious.

Dont see whats wrong with having an early lunch while out and about?

ambarth · 03/03/2011 11:43

YABU and snobby.

GabbyLoggon · 03/03/2011 11:47

Yes fish and chips in the street is a class thing

A photo of HMQ eating fish and chips in the street would be worth a fortune to the tabloids.

Jacquix · 03/03/2011 11:53

This 'eating in the street is common/chavvy' business is so Hyacinth Bucket, IMO. If I see someone with fish and chips, regardless of time of day, my main reaction is always deep envy. And yes, I'm seriously craving some now. And yes, if I went to get some for lunch I would get stuck in to them on my way home, and a big fat finger to the snobs :)

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 12:06

Would sitting on a nice city center bench with a sandwich from Pret be viewed just as bad or daringly walking along.

I'm just thinking about the times DS and I have got fish and chips and ate them on park bench then had icecreams - soo working class - Harump not giving up my values for anyone snobby views event hough Iam doinf weightwatcvhers as of this week

GabbyLoggon · 03/03/2011 12:09

I am doing weight watching at home. "Gabby"

Dawnyann · 03/03/2011 12:15

Well call me common but I love my Mr Sizzles & jacket potato's and don't care who think's it's rank to eat in the street Wink bite me hahaha
