to think it's a bit rank to be walking down the High Street scoffing fish and chips at 10:47am?

I so wish I was an Italian wandering through Rome with an espresso and pastry...that is my dream...

On the other hand always noticed how 'fat' people are always described as 'scoffing', 'piggin out on' and 'chomping down' rather than just 'eating'? Apparently overweight people do not eat. That is why I do not eat in public very often, for fear of people think 'ooh look at her scoffing that cappuccino and biscotti'.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 12:40

I would have thought, that the phrasing of my post, would have made is quite clear, that it was a joke.

"I think eating in the street is common."

Do you think that someone putting forth a serious opinion that something is common, puts the 'action' into the middle of it? Do you? Really?

And the follow up post of mine "No. They're not walking down the street. they are dining al fresco. erm. sort of. does outside area of a cafe count as al fresco or does it have to be picnic in the park?

Not so many years ago, it actually was, seriously now, considered common to eat in the street. Seen to be very bad manners indeed.

Now it's a symptom of life on the run."

No in reply to the question is an outdoor cafe the same as walking down the street.

The words SERIOUSLY NOW, when talking how eating in the street used to be seen

And ending with an opinion on why things have changed.

So stick it up your arse.

mynameis · 02/03/2011 12:40

Mmmm really want some fish and chips now. Will try to eat them in privacy of own home Grin

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 12:42

Shagging in the street would be much more rank!Blush

bupcakesandcunting · 02/03/2011 12:43

Calm down, Hecate. It's only a misunderstanding Grin

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 12:44

erm Hecate was that post to me? I hope not because I was agreeing with you that eating etc in the streets was something I was brought up NOT to do as my parents generation see it as common.

justcarrots29 · 02/03/2011 12:44

Depends what time time of day the shagging happened Grin

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 12:45

A kebab?

How common.

worraliberty · 02/03/2011 12:46

I only shag in shop doorways and even then it has to be John Lewis or Waitrose. Also, I have to know the person I'm shagging or it's just bloody common Blush

bupcakesandcunting · 02/03/2011 12:47

"Also, I have to know the person I'm shagging or it's just bloody common"

Fucking snob, worraliberty.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 12:47

Yes. It was this bit " I don't, however, judge others for doing so as it doesn't bother me." that appeared rather unfair and implying that I do judge people.

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 12:47

Oh right, clearly it was to me Grin

Fuck knows why though :)

< strokes Hecate's hair in a soothing manner >

LessNarkyPuffin · 02/03/2011 12:48

I judge.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 12:48

But if you weren't actually implying that you felt my post was judging others, then I certainly apologise wholeheartedly and will share my kebab with you.

midori1999 · 02/03/2011 12:49

I'm pregnant and I really fancy fish and chips now, but it is literally miles and miles to the nearest chip shop. Sad

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 12:49

Oooh nooo - I wasn't referring to you (or anyone else in particular).

Just saying that even though I was brought up not to do it I couldn't really give a flying one if people do it or not.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 12:49

Yeah. I've clearly been an overreacting oversensitive cowbag then, haven't I?

Sorry.

You can have ALL my kebab.

worraliberty · 02/03/2011 12:50

I was fucking a snob..yes bupcakes he screamed "One is arriving" and then lit a Cuban cigar Grin

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 12:50

So that skanky 'big fat heifer'Wink i was shagging (didn't get his name as he as scoffing a pasty at the time) in william Hills doorway in Dudley makes me common does it?

PAH! Wink

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 12:51

< snatches kebab and drowns it in chilli sauce >

Much appreciated Hecate all this talk of food has made my stomach rumble

worraliberty · 02/03/2011 12:51

Is it wrong not to want to munch on your kebab Hectate not being prudish but I'm happily married and all that Shock

bupcakesandcunting · 02/03/2011 12:53

Eugh, this has got all garlic mayo on it.

nomoreheels · 02/03/2011 12:53

I passed a couple shagging in an alley once. It was 11 am.

It's odd that a chippy would be open that early, but McD's starts serving burgers at 10:30 so... (still way too early for me mind)

Public eating, it depends. We have a horrible butcher type place in the Arndale that serves every kind of roasted meat & chips, but gas no seating. Or bins. So you will get entire families sat down in the shopping centre corridor with a grade z meat feast laid out on the floor. It's not very nice to see, especially as loads of people then just leave heaps of bones behind.

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 12:54

LOL Worra - I did wonder about if it was wise for me to put the words 'snatch' and 'kebab' in the same sentence ...

Blush
worraliberty · 02/03/2011 12:55

Well I'd be more worried about the garlic mayonnaise if I were you private Blush
