to think it's a bit rank to be walking down the High Street scoffing fish and chips at 10:47am?

Well. This took a disturbing turn, didn't it?

Can't think what you mean Hectate Blush

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 13:00

I think it is important at this point, to make clear to all readers that I do not have a garlic mayonnaise kebab.

And if I did, I would see my gp.

BeattieBow · 02/03/2011 13:04

public eating's a bit gross really. I commute by train and find it fairly revolting that people feel the need to eat smelly food at any time of day. Can't they wait until they get home? [and the sniffing and chewing gum - that's a whole other thread]

I don't like to see people eating in the street, and don't let my dcs do it, but I probably am a snob!

LessNarkyPuffin · 02/03/2011 13:04

Hmm. I'm fairly sure that my grandmother would've considered the shagging common too, though she never expressly mentioned it. She didn't approve of gambling, so the William Hill's doorway would definitely be frowned on.

missorinoco · 02/03/2011 13:12

I eat and drink in the street, and can recall eating chips walking down the street before 12 pm (BF hourly, try telling my belly it's not lunch time).

I can live with you thinking I was common, those chips were GOOD.

Dammit, now I want chips.

TotemPole · 02/03/2011 13:38

What are people supposed to do if they're out and hungry? Pay for an overpriced sandwich so they can sit down in Starbucks?

The cheaper solutions don't give you a seat.

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 13:50

LessNarkyPuffin - Do you think she would have been ok with Harrods though? Wink

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 13:51

and what about eating fish & chips at the seaside? Thats still outside?

Common or tradition please discuss!!!!!!

LessNarkyPuffin · 02/03/2011 14:03

Ah. Ice creams in the summer had special exemption. I don't know about fish and chips at the sea side? Possibly allowable within sight of the sea?

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 14:05

i'd like to see that enforced as a law. "Excuse me sir you're not allowed to be eating those here" "but there's the sea I can just see it behind those buldings"

"ahh ok then, on your way" Grin

for privategodfrey because I am actually feeling rather guilty for snapping at you, even though you were forgiving. More so because you were forgiving.

TotemPole · 02/03/2011 14:24

I really want some fish & chips now.

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 14:36

Now now Hecate any more of this kindness towards me and I might have to have another nibble on your kebab

< fans self with greasy chip paper >

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 14:36

promises, promises

Dawnyann · 02/03/2011 14:40

EleanorJosie · 02/03/2011 14:41

Oh I love eating a burger and chips on the train on the way back from a night out. It's horrible when anyone else does it though. Revolting. Common. Smelly. Antisocial. Wink

I don't like eating while walking but sometimes I can't wait to get from supermarket to home Blush I like the thrill of scoffing down some proscuitto on the way Grin

I love eating in the park during the summer, luckily I get to go down to Hyde park and people have little barbeques and play games. Roll on summer!

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 14:44

Ah you're just jealous cos I've pulled, Dawn Grin

Now if I saw someone walking down the street eating this then I might be tempted to pull on my judgy pants ...

LessNarkyPuffin · 02/03/2011 14:49

At least the eating on the street means the smell doesn't linger I suppose. Sitting on a train at the start of a 5 hour journey and hearing a rustle behind you followed by the smell of grease as someone opens a bag from Burger King is horrible.

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 15:27

yum yum.

have just finished my bag of chips - I texted DH and asked for chips for lunch because of this thread! Grin

i haven't had chip-shop chips for months

they were lovely. (and from a new chip-shop too!)

(it was 3:10 when they arrived wit hDH, so that's okay, isn't it? and we ate them in the shop, not on the street)

amiheartless · 02/03/2011 15:29

Is it just me whos not too fussed??? Confused

sparkle1977 · 02/03/2011 15:42

Are you sure it was exactly 10:47 ? I think 10:48 would have beenh far more acceptable personally.

Crikey, what is the world coming to when people judge us for what time we eat ! [shocked]
