They keep "estimating" my bills to the extent where the manager of customer services rang me and said, cancel your direct debit as we're clearly a bunch of monkeys. I did. That was in Aug 2010, I received a bill in January for £450 I paid that, then received a bill for £100 in Feb (the first week) I rang to query it and the guy asked me for my meter readings (AGAIN) I gave them and he said "Oh it's wrong, you only owe £20". So I paid that. I got a bill today for £70 so I rang up to query it. THere has never been an agent knock on my door to retrieve the meter readings, I just give them over the phone. THis stupid woman today said;

"Well someone came in August, twice in fact and gave us the readings"

Me: "Sorry they couldn't have I have been in".

Her: "Perhaps you've forgotten, August was such a long time ago".

Me: "No, no I'm 24 I can remember 7 months ago perfectly well and no one came, least of all twice in the space of a week".

Her: "are you calling me a liar?"

Me: "yes".

Her: "Well you're wrong, our system is never wrong".

Me: "Your system was wrong 2 weeks ago when I tried to pay more than was owed, can I speak to your supervisor?"

Her: "Whatever..." BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.

Mad is not the word.

I think your mistake was to say yes when she asked if you were calling her a liar Grin

Clearly they are incompetent. Why not change supplier?

fifi25 · 23/02/2011 17:05

n power are really good and i find them much cheaper than BG who i changed from. Just ring a different supplier, you dont need to speak to e on again, the new supplier will do it for you Smile

aPixie · 23/02/2011 17:21

Wow, that is rude!

But

I love Eon. I pay £30 a month for gas and £30 for electricity and I'm £220 in credit.

Beat that Southern Electric you bunch of robbing bastards!

aPixie · 23/02/2011 17:22

I meant the woman on the phone was rude by the way, not you. Grin

fluffygal · 23/02/2011 17:41

I give my meter reading over the net. I agree they are really cheap, I pay £32 a month for BOTH and still in credit!

Woman was very rude though, I'd report her, I'm sure it will be logged on your account who you last spoke to? Customer is aways right!

fluffygal · 23/02/2011 17:43

always*

sloggies · 23/02/2011 17:46

Difficult to win with meter readings - we have the opposite problem, and they are always trying to read the badly placed meter. Or the meter man fancies me (its always the same one). Unlikely, I just assumed they get paid more for each reading. Wonder if someone has 'made up' a reading for you, if that is the case?

saffy85 · 23/02/2011 17:48

I changed to British Gas from this bunch of muppets. When they rang me up to whine at me not to leeeeaaave them I told them exactly bout a bunch of incompetant dipshits I thought they were.

I had a similar issue to you OP, just less money but still alot IYSWIM. They asked me if I was "sure" I'd already paid them that bill. Hmm Wouldn't mind but it was a DD. And I'm hardly gonna forget that mahoosive bill in the space of a fortnight right after christmas! Hmm

Flisspaps · 23/02/2011 17:52

How are you all paying so little with Eon for gas and electricity? I'm paying £95 a month, £300 in debit and we've got a new boiler and energy saving lightbulbs AND only have the lights on in the room we're in!

LOTM Can you put your meter readings in online?

LadyOfTheManor · 23/02/2011 18:57

Well it was £458 from August to December-including The Big Freeze Hmm so it isn't bad. My problem is the woman who HUNG up on ME! The cheek!

I can't do anything online as I don't have "an online deal" apparently.

I live with a heating Nazi so my bills aren't very high, average about £42 a month for both.

I asked her to go through the account and check the last person I spoke to as due to data protec. they have to log each conversation, she claimed I'd never rung before the last time where the guy made an error. The thing is, they MUST have taken a meter reading when I joined, otherwise they'd have nothing to go on and as no one had been to my house they could've only got it from me, yet they deny that is at all possible. I'm glad I remembered her name, can't wait to complain.

Yes, Saffy, it's a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is pick pocketing doing. Cheeky sods.

"Malc" are you for real?! I know that other companies trawl these sites looking for complaints, but gosh, never so openly.

I have put my complaint into writing, and I will ensure that the moron employed to speak to customers like that is deprived of those privileges.

E.On Annoy the hell out of me too LOTM, We moved from BG as they kept saying we hadn't paid bills, Currently pay £120 pm for Gas and electric, switched to fixed rate 3 (which now has a different name) as we were told we save approx 20% on both G&E but would lose clubcard points! Our bills haven't changed whatsoever since last October.
They read the meters last month (gas outside and electric in cellar) and have now sent me yet another email asking me to provide meter readings otherwise we will have an estimated bill WTF??
YASNBU!

Acanthus · 25/02/2011 14:45

Ooh you should get one of the online deals, they're much cheaper

agedknees · 25/02/2011 14:50

When we moved into our flat we where with Eon. They had us on the highest tariff they could put us on. Only realised when we got our first bill.

We requested a different (cheaper tariff) obviously. Then we switched companies to Scottish Power (very happy with them).

LadyOfTheManor · 25/02/2011 16:43

Well I've PMed "Malc" (I can't take that name seriously, apologies).

However I'm hoping I'll hear back from their complaint division, as MNetting a rep seems a bit erm unprofessional?

Malc

You may be found on other forums but touting for business on MN is not on. SPend more time brushing up on customer services and less time chatting online and maybe the OP would't have had the issue she did.

Acanthus · 25/02/2011 16:56

Ooh another rep. First OcadoAnnie, now eon. Do all companies have these then?
