As I spent most of my time here..I thought I'd use it to say goodbye

As starkly reminded by recent threads, MN is not the sort of place that I feel very safe, with or without anonymity. I don't expect to be missed, I have often been quite and outspoken bitch on here and haven't exactly made a lot of friends. I am delighted to have met some of the feminists, and will hopefully see them again. But twice in two weeks I've had PMs reminding me of things I've posted about my husband and I'm really upset about it. For me MN has been a quick knee jerk experience, one that captures my mood at any moment. So toodle pip.....about time I did more with the dcs anyway.

I am really aware that this is an attention seeking thread, but I just wanted MN to know that I won't be the only one leaving when apparent heartbreak (not mine) is fodder for someone's 'shit stirring Sunday'.....

Posie, if someone has said the are 'going to get you', you could report it to the police as well.

I once had a PM from someone saying 'you want to watch what you say I know you work at - and its not a million miles away from me, just around the corner in fact, I may see you there at some point'

It just made me laugh and think lunatic tbh.

It doesn't matter whether you like a poster or not - PM's of this nature are unacceptable.

Generally, I like 'Good bye' posts from posters I like (well I don't like them as I want them to stay but you know what I mean!) I think they are self indulgent from posters I don't like Grin However, in this case I can see why Posie has posted. I also think it's perfectly normal to stay on the thread - it's a conversation, not a statement.

Posie - I hope whether you decide to stay or go that you report your PM's to MNHQ - people shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.

If someone wants to post things that are hypocritical then fine, that's up to each poster isn't it?! If they get pulled up on it on a thread, then fine - I have no problem with that either. I do have a problem with people PM'ing to 'pull you up' on it and a much bigger problem with people threatening to 'get you'.

PM's, on the whole, have been a brilliant improvement to MN, which is why we need to report posters who abuse them, because I, for one, don't want to lose that facility bacause a few are spoiling it for the many.

(Tracey it doesn't matter if they are a name changer MNHQ know who they are.)

Oh FGS don't let the bastards get you down like this. I'm completely intrigued re who you were/are (there was me thinking you were a relative newbie) but psycho PMers should never be allowed to feel they've won. You sound like a thoroughly nice person - namechange and stay.

considering the thread was about porn, I would completely understand someone reminding me that I used to be a porn star or something....but not that 'I pretend to have a perfect life and blah blah I know what you wrote...it was a cold night when I read.....

I just feel that this person may just rewrite my deleted threads....

Posie, I am dismayed that you have felt the need to leave MN, I like your style, humour and humility.

I agree with perhaps taking some time out, I am not AS prolific addicted as I was, but derive a great deal of support AND satisfaction from MN.

If you have received even ONE off PM, then please, you owe it to the rest of us to report and get that person banned.

Take time off, regroup, and come back, you know you will miss us, and you know you will be missed.

I don't think we've ever agreed on anything TPP but I'll be sorry to see you go. I like MN because of the differing opinions - my eyes get opened to different points of view and quite often it's been you that's done it (even though I'm normally lurking so you wouldn't know). I hope you choose to some back soon.
