As starkly reminded by recent threads, MN is not the sort of place that I feel very safe, with or without anonymity. I don't expect to be missed, I have often been quite and outspoken bitch on here and haven't exactly made a lot of friends. I am delighted to have met some of the feminists, and will hopefully see them again. But twice in two weeks I've had PMs reminding me of things I've posted about my husband and I'm really upset about it. For me MN has been a quick knee jerk experience, one that captures my mood at any moment. So toodle pip.....about time I did more with the dcs anyway.

I am really aware that this is an attention seeking thread, but I just wanted MN to know that I won't be the only one leaving when apparent heartbreak (not mine) is fodder for someone's 'shit stirring Sunday'.....

As we are happily having a go go at LouiseG and her posting style

sorry to be the voice of dissent but I often disagreed with PosieParker and won't miss her input.

I didn't realise she was a regular poster. I thought she was someone who I had noticed rubbed me up the wrong way.

As she was on the feminist boards (I try not to disagree with the chosen, doffs cap) I tried to shy away from discussion with her that would end in acrimony

people come and go from mumsnet. I will lay good money on her return

FellatioNelson - that's a very interesting post. I consider you to be a very straight up, honest/solid poster who stands up for the people who need standing up for, even if it's not your battle and I really respect you for that.

As I said on the original thread by SS - I have agreed with AlouiseG on many threads. I didn't agree with her taking the thread to twitter as I thought it was insensitve and uncalled for. However, I don't tweet and I don't do FB but from what I've heard, it seems to be happening to most threads - which is a shame IMO as it opens MN to more idiots.

A few people have said that the PM's were nasty and stalkerish and I said if that was the case they should be reported (thus leaving MNHQ to decide what to do about it).

However, I can see what you are saying about confronting people who are being very inconsistent - is it better to do it on the board or by PM? Both have Pro's & Con's and ignoring it isn't always an option.

It does seem to be unfair to merely 'delete' a post when someone has 'attacked' another poster, but ban a poster if they have sent an 'attacking' PM. It does make me wonder if someone in MNHQ is trigger happy tonight or if AG stepped far too far over the line?

Confused

It's all too bloody hard - can't we just talk about bum sex & rammekins?

Ok. I have debated whether to post again but decided to go ahead.

Aloiseg emailed me the PMs. I am not going to share them, but I can say that they were not as bad as they are being made out to be.

I do not think that she sent them to be nasty, but to continue what she thought to be a reasonable discussion off the public board.

What she deemed a reasonable discussion is, imo, a step too far and an invasion of privacy. Dragging up previous posts is not ok. Of course we all have in the back of our minds if a poster says something that sounds odd, but it is not ok to call them on it.

I think that this, coming hard on the heels of the Twitter nonsense meant that MNHQ felt compelled to ban Aloiseg.

I hope that MNHQ relent and allow her back on MN. And I hope she has the balls to apologise for the hurt and upset caused to both SS and PP. She may not have meant harm by it, but it upset and hurt them and for that she should say sorry.

To be fair I don't think you need to 'stalk' someone to remember previous things they said. I for one can remember a lot of the problems Posie has posted about previously, just because she has a very memorable name, which she never changes much, and a certain kind of persona. But the PM thing was still beyond the limit

ML, she won't

Earlier today, when asked nicely, she said it "would be a cold day in hell" before she apologised

so don't hold your breath < shrugs >

PeterAndreForPM · 22/02/2011 23:50

in fact, she was given the option several times, to do it while still saving face

but she didn't
