i just think the sooner my family get out of this country the better. Its ridiculous. Human rights has gone mad . The prison system is ludicrous! The immigration laws are a joke. Britain has lost almost all the values we used to stand for. Where i live british people are a minority/ stranger in our own country its unbelieveable that it has got to this point. The 'democracy' we live in is far to leanient. I am disgusted that we allow such things as the burkha here i believe that like france, Britain should ban it. So much money is being spent to enable life to be better for those who come here and claim our benefits, translators etc and running the NHS into the ground.... aibu to wonder WHAT ABOUT US BRITS????

OP posts:
ScramVonChubby · 23/02/2011 16:33

I ahve a book soemwhere of real olde worlde englsih recipes; if anyone fancies knowing how to make pig brain preserved in jelly I can send it across...... yum.

Um, chips and fish for me then!

No nativity plays? Oh I so wish! DS2 (10) ws unamused to learn he was in one at his age this Christmas. At the Church. As well as the dreadful usual production (which always has a Christian theme even if tea towels are lacking- nativity plays are for infants surely?).

ScramVonChubby · 23/02/2011 16:34

Oi

incoherent rantings and terrible typos are my speciality and I have my degree intact thank you.

AbsDuCroissant · 23/02/2011 16:38

Yes, but your's are nice. And even if the typings over the place, I don't worry about your sanity and you don't come across as a rabid racist

ScramVonChubby · 23/02/2011 16:48

I worry about my santiy, but can assure you that I am indeed not racist. Or anything else-ist. Well, sister refers to me as snake-ist as I am phobic and she is a vet nurse but that's about it. I doubt many snake feelings have been hurt by that, much less life chances eroded.

ifancyashandy · 23/02/2011 17:33

'Oh blah dee, Oh blah da, Oh blah biiiiiiiding!'

Oh well, it worked in MY head..... Grin

ifancyashandy · 23/02/2011 17:35

Ps. Still no answer as to why I'm to blame for country going to dogs (or hogs!) or what OP thinks of habits?

Ah well.

jenga079 · 23/02/2011 17:42

Woah, I haven't had a chance to catch up on the whole thread yet mamalou, but I can absolutely assure you that you are not 'upholding' any values of mine in your OP. My values include welcoming immigration, believing in human rights and allowing anyone to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in (unless you are one of the kids at my school attempting to wear a hoodie in lessons, in which case you'll hear a big rant about how with rights come responsibilities!)

Oh, and I've already got my second degree, but I could spell long before I finished that!!

jenga079 · 23/02/2011 17:55

Right, finished it now, and despite making me lol at suggesting I was the one who needs to grow up (maybe I do, as I said, I was very impressed with how sensibly BIWI dealt with the OP) I was very impressed with the OP's idea that schools should follow rules. Yes, they should. They should also ensure all their pupils understand a range of different cultures. They should make sure that children look behind the burka, or habit, or kippah, or whatever else and see the people behind. They should teach politics so that we do appreciate being in our 'democracy'.

Oh, and they should teach spelling Wink

SunshineisSorry · 23/02/2011 18:26

I've always wanted to do this

The OP for example, is a TWUNT!

Don't choke on your Biscuit luv

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/02/2011 18:29

The OP isn't coming back, is she? Quelle surprise.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 23/02/2011 18:30

BIWI - she did come back.............she just refused to answer any sensible questions Smile

TryingVeryHard · 23/02/2011 19:14

I'm back. Mme Lindt was right, this can be fun.
I like Westies, they're cute, what's wrong with Westies?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 23/02/2011 19:16

who was dissing Westies??

The dawgs or the people??

TryingVeryHard · 23/02/2011 19:21

Don't know, and I meant the dogs (is dawgs the same thing?)

ScramVonChubby · 23/02/2011 19:30

Dog. It was me.MIL has / had (who knows? DH hasn't spoken to her for years) one.

Is that not enough of a reason?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 23/02/2011 19:31

I dunno TryingVeryHard - is a dawg a dog?? (I only skim read that part of the thread Grin).

bristolcities · 23/02/2011 19:38

My guess is you vote Tory. Which is ironic because they are getting rid of every ting we should be proud f in this country, privatising the NHS and to a degree schools.

How can human rights have gone mad? is it not sending these immigrants back to imminent death in their own country that bothers you?

I'm sure this has been said already but FFS, I cannot tell you how sick I am of all the moaning. Cast your eye around the middle east at the moment then thank your lucky stars. Just because we are not the super power we were a hundred years ago does not mean the country's crap.

So yes, YABVVU. Whole pack of biscuits, if I had one.

bigbeagleeyes · 23/02/2011 22:57

I'm relatively new here and try not to get into threads like this, as people with the type of views as the op totally depress me.
But it's brilliant to see that no-one here actually agrees with her and have actually made her sound even thicker than she already is.
I'm liking mumsnetters more and more, don't care what everybody else says about you (that would be a big smiley but don't know how to do them yet).

redexpat · 24/02/2011 00:50

Go ahead, try living abroad. See how far you get before realising that actually it's bloody hard work playing by someone else's rules all the time, that if you are not a citizen of the country it's very hard to get benefits, to work out how everything works from scratch, to not understand the doctor's receptionists questions, to not know where to look for information, to have people bitch about you and your foreign friends to your face without regard for the truth ('foreigners don't know how to function in our society' from a 15 yr old who just got suspended from school), to have people decide that they can tell you how to live you life and what language to speak to your own children, and to come up against unbelievable arrogance that the way things are done in THIS country is absolutely the best way, even when it quite clearly isn't, to not have your university qualifications accepted whilst the host nation will quite happily let morons qualify at snail's pace, to have people treat you like an idiot because you speak with a foreign accent, oh I could go on and on, and I clearly have.

When people from the host country open up and are friendly and inclusive it makes a world of difference. May I politely suggest you start something up if you feel so strongly? A mother and baby group, or offer to proof read job applications, or english conversational skills. Songs and games from host country are always welcome.

Morloth · 24/02/2011 01:00

I really don't think you are going to like Oz UP, I know the common perception un the UK is that we are a bit backward and racist which appeals to certain types.

But the reality is that we mostly have a live and let live attitude, almost everyone is an immigrant if you scratch the surface.

Your petty racist views will not be tolerated by most Aussies, certainly none of the people I know and we like multi-culturalism which means people can wear what they like and do whatever the fuck they like as long as they are not breaking any laws.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 24/02/2011 04:40

Hear hear, Morloth.

Also, we have cyclones. And snakes. And drop bears.

smugaboo · 24/02/2011 05:07

Oh, OP, Australian prisoners who are serving less than 3 year sentences have a constitutional right to vote. What kind of nutty country is that, eh?

But if you do insist on coming I hear there is a leaky boat leaving Indonesia in the next 24 hours. Coming straight to Christmas island. Oh yes, its as lovely as it sounds. All sparkly and festive.

Morloth and Tortoise, its kind of like when Pauline Hanson wanted to move to the UK because she thought Australia was going to the dogs, isn't it?
