To keep 30 odd socks in a box in the hope that one day the other one might turn up

does anyone else do this or is it just a personal weirdness?

I spend the whole winter wearing odd socks. I so can't be bothered pairing them up. No one can see them as I usually wear boots.

I have a whole laundry basket of these. DD1 now has a reputation at college for never wearing a matching pair of socks as she just raids it.

It is known in our house as the "sock orphanage".

MIL loves sitting with it in front Coronation St when she comes down, trying to match them up. A cheer goes up when she does get a pair.

i do this too, they never turn up

I do this with the DCs socks. On occasion, the second one turns up and I can reunite it with it's pair. Life is about small triumphs, I find.

Thank God I'm not alone! I was wondering whether to start making a huge family of sock puppets.

I am the eternal optimist that these socks will magically appear someday.

BBM...my mother does the same. She sees it as "her job" to pair up all the odd socks. Me, I can't be bothered and am quite happy to wear oddies.

I've got a bag that I keep in the wadrobe with all the odd socks and probably get round o taking a look inside once a month - I'm glad I'm not alone!

I went through my odd sock box. There was some baby socks in it. Daughter is 10.

All of our socks go in a basket from the dryer. When the basket is overflowing it gets sorted out (or when someone gets pissed off for having no socks ) seems to be more and more odd ones these days. GOnna have to delve into the cave that is Under The Boys Beds

if a missing sock has not reappeared within 30 days, then it is lost forever, 'tis a cast-iron fact...

that's so organised. i have little clumps of odd socks here and there - the bookshelf in my bedroom, the bottom of several laundry baskets...

I also have a big bag of lonely socks. Where do they go though? Maybe there is a Bermuda Triangle for socks somewhere.

I have a bag of odd socks too! Lots of them do turn up eventually (from where?) and I throw the others out periodically.

Not wierd at all in my book, just very sensible!

We have a big blue IKEA bag full of socks - Me DH, DS1 and DS2 have roughly the same size feet (6, 9,9, and 10), so it's a communal sock bag. There are a lot of them in there...

We wear odd socks most of the time too

So glad I'm not alone on this! Every so often I tip the bag out on the floor and have a matching session but there are always ones left, but strangely rarely the same odds! A few random baby socks in there too.

I chucked my sock bag out when we moved in November. There were around 40 socks in there, all odd.

We've got 11 odd socks already. Where do they go? Seriously, where? I turned into a nagging banshee when we moved and insisted that all socks are counted into the washing machine in pairs. I only put pairs in the machine. Yet odd socks still come out. WTF is happening to them?

Yep we have one too,and it is known as the sock basket. DRives DS crazy, he refuses to let his socks end up there but it works for me!!

There are a few odd socks around but not that many! I buy multipacks for everyone so that it is not so obvious as all their socks are the same so sooner or later there will be another odd sock to match up with them!

I saved all DH's odd socks up in bag, when MIL came to visit she kindly offered to match all her sons socks who was I to say no?

Least you have a box! Mine are all on top of a chest of drawers. And mine are mostly kids ones which is crazy since being so teeny, the other ones are never going to turn up!

Where do they go though!??? I just don't understand, I have bought brand new socks before and I like to wash them first so I put in washing machine and then never see them again! I don't get it!!!?
