I always used to think that when I saw adult couples at Legoland - what's that about?!

LadyOfTheManor · 17/02/2011 09:12

I've never been, but isn't there separate parts....hmm like a golf course/health spa which realistically children wouldn't use?

FluffyMummy123 · 17/02/2011 09:13

We had breakfast next to an American couple in Disneyland.

They were there without children. For the 10th time.

They were both in the Army, she was based in Germany, he was on leave from Afghanistan.

She had her photo taken with Mickey Mouse to put in her autograph book.

I found that slightly worrying.

Its like adults with no kids. that have soft toys around the house. . .is this a baby substitute?

Foreverondiet · 17/02/2011 09:14

I went to legoland before I had children. Both DH and I, as children had loved lego and had never had the chance to go to Legoland in Denmark. We went on the more scary rides and had a lovely day - why is that odd?

I think centreparcs good place to go if you are sporty outdoors sorts who prefer self catering even without children.

FluffyMummy123 · 17/02/2011 09:15

thats odd forever

It's all the groups of adults at Disneyland that piss me off, generally of age 60+ who shove kids out of way to go on the kiddie rides, why would any adult want to go on the teacups unless you had little kids FFS!
Get a fucking life!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/02/2011 09:17

'the more scarey rides' - would that be the big dragon then?

lesley33 · 17/02/2011 09:17

I have been to centreparcs as part of an adult group. I loved it. The spa, wave machine, archert and sailing were all graet fun.

So yes I think YABU.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/02/2011 09:18

I fucking hate hate centreparcs even with kids - lolling at the bottom of a fetid swamp pool breathing in chlorine is not my idea of fun.

I reckon it's a practical (if expensive) venue when you're looking at organising something to acommodate a large group.

The spa at the Nottingham one has the best steam rooms I have EVER been in, and I'm a bit of a spa snob.

lesley33 · 17/02/2011 09:22

But if you like doing sporty outdoor things it is great. Where else can you get such a good mixture of activities.

I am not a great fan of soft toys; but no I don't think they are a substitute baby. Some people just like the look of them.

Vassia · 17/02/2011 09:24

I went to Centerparcs for a friend's hen weekend, and also for my own. It was brilliant to chill out with the girls and go to the spa. Depends what you go there for. We went to chill out, but I see your point if its groups of people who go there to cause a riot.

Only thing that annoyed me was the amount of people who can't ride a bike without trying to crash into you.

lesley33 · 17/02/2011 09:26

I also live very near a centreparcs site. So it is an easy long weekend - only 30 minutes drive, but feels like a proper break.

Hullygully · 17/02/2011 09:26

weird

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/02/2011 09:26

The spa's like a conveyor belt with bored, no doubt underpaid employees and such a massive queue to wait in before you go in the chances of any 'chilling out' are slim.

< not a spa person >

EightiesChick · 17/02/2011 09:28

What's the 'normal' place they ought to be going to, Club 18-30?

Oh hang on, I forgot Biscuit

SmethwickBelle · 17/02/2011 09:29

The part of the spa for treatments was indeed like a conveyor belt (like most spas that accommodate hen parties) - but the steam rooms were very good.

SixtyFootDoll · 17/02/2011 09:29

YABU I went with some girlfriends yonks ago , we lazed around teh spa, went horseriding, played badminton darnk lots of wine and cooked, was a nice break.

CMOTdibbler · 17/02/2011 09:29

I went for a hen weekend, and it was great - people weren't confined to a cottage and we didn't queue for the spa at all

lesley33 · 17/02/2011 09:29

I have only been in the depths of winter and the spa has always been very quiet. Would hate to queue for it.

traceybath · 17/02/2011 09:30

Not my idea of a fun place even with children so no way I'd go without them.
