Tar for the cat

Sorry for another cat thread but I found this highly amusing and see it as justice done.

I returned from holiday on Sunday and was accosted by my neighbour who complained that her cats had walked roof bitchumen (tar like stuff) from the roof of my extension (we had it done just before going away) all around her house and had marked carpets and bed linen.

she said I should have informed her the roof had been done. As I have asked her on several occasions to keep her cats off my property I dont see she has a leg to stand on.

Our homes both have extensions and she leaves her rear upper window open for the cats to come and go.

On a serious note OP, have the cats been back since they got all tar-y? They dont like being dirty do they, maybe they've learnt? :)

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 15/02/2011 00:35

Maybe you could squirt bleach around the garden and then if the cats wee'd on it they'd gas themselves?

DooinMeCleanin · 15/02/2011 00:35

Jareth water would be much more effective. I throw cigarette packets and rolled up bits of paper at my cat when he is scratching the rug and he just scowls at me and stalks off. Throwing something near a cat won't scare it off for long. Squirting water at it will.

Op - you do realise if you kill or injure one of cats and get caught (and lets face it if you have been ranting like a mad woman at your neighbours they'll know it was you) you will be fined and/or jailed for cruelty.

newwave · 15/02/2011 00:37

OhFor, suprisingly yes but that may be due to her DP being pretty useless at household repairs/DIY and often collars us for help in these matters including doing 90% of the work replacing his rotten fence and helping him to replace his gutters all one weekend last summer.

Allsquare, dont know I have only been back from holiday since yesterday :O

Dooin, I dont do "ranting" at anyone I just explain actions and possible consequences in a calm manner.

IF I managed a "hit" I would hardly advertise it, probably throw it (if dead) in the road, it would look like a car hit it.

OhForBoonessSake · 15/02/2011 00:44

ah right, yes i see now. all is clear.

newwave · 15/02/2011 00:45

Madam, there is a far simpler solution which is cat owners need to take responsibility for their poxy cats.

Keep you feline shit machines under control.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 00:47

Dooin - yeah, we do - buckets of water at the little bastard when it's just outside my house crapping on my front garden.

Was just saying. I'm just being deliberately antagonistic (duh :) )

I do wonder though.. Everybody is repulsed by dog shit on pavements and in front gardens because owners don't control their animals or pick up after them.

Cat shit though, is seemingly OK. My neighbor knows full well that her little bundle of black and white fur leaves little presents for us, but doesn't clear them up. If someone was walking their dog and they crapped on the front of my garden they would be expected to clear it up.

Why should I tolerate cat shit on my lawn? Why should I clear it up myself?

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 00:47

There is no excuse for throwing bricks at cats. I hope someone videos you doing it and you get prosecuted for it.

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 00:48

Throw it in the road?

Fucking hell - you really are a mad bitch.

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 00:51

jareth - because we live in a country where cats are permitted to roam freely and dogs are not. That's 'why'.

I have no objection to people putting down Lion Poo or shouting and clapping hands, squirting the cats with water etc but throwing bricks crosses the line - totally.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 00:51

throw what in the road?

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 00:53

Jareth - read newwaves post at 00:42

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 00:53

Yes yes, I know it does, I'm not an idiot.

Like I said though, I do feel like it after scraping cat shit off my shoe. again.

We also live in a country where cats aren't property and dogs are, so there is no onus on their owners to control them.

newwave · 15/02/2011 00:53

Chipping, as far as cats in my garden are concerned I sure am. Everywhere else is fine and none of my business.

OP posts:
JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 00:54

ah, OK.

newwave · 15/02/2011 00:57

Chipping, I have no objection to people putting down Lion Poo or shouting and clapping hands, squirting the cats with water etc but throwing bricks crosses the line - totally.

Tell you what I will get the Lion Poo, Super squirter, sonic detterent and send the bill for them to you,is that ok, because my neighbour has never offered to pay for her suggestions to keep her cat out of my garden.

OhForBoonessSake · 15/02/2011 00:59

even if all the cat owners in teh country kept their cats indoors tehre would still be feral cats, badgers, foxes, hedghogs, rats, birds etc in your garden at various times.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 01:02

There would be no foxes or badgers in our garden. Walls are 8' tall and it's only the buggering cats that can get in.

Rats and birds are fine..welcomed in fact.

Sorry... I'm getting far too ranty on this thread. We opened the door on Sunday to find 3 piles of stinking cat shit on our front garden. Did piss me off.

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 01:02

newwave she doesn't have to - we live in a country where cats are allowed to roam free - if you don't want them in your garden then the onus is on you to use humane methods to deter them. It is not up to you to choose which laws to abide by and which not to.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/02/2011 01:03

that's crap though, Chipping. (crap that it's allowed, not that you're talking crap Grin )

newwave · 15/02/2011 01:05

Agent, That was the first incident which was followed by having to check the garden when the kids wanted to play in it and the damage to plants. It's not one incident it is/was ongoing.

Does anyone of the cat owners feel any concern whatsoever about any damage caused or gardens crapped in by your cats or is that a price worth paying by other people and thats just the way of things.

OP posts:
ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 15/02/2011 01:05

Jareth you have my full and complete sympathy and it is vile to have to deal with animal shit, especially at your front door.

My point on this thread is that nothing makes newwaves brick throwing acceptable. Nothing
