to think cheese and onion should be green

Cheese and onion crisps should be green and salt and vinegar blue. Mc coys ( king of crisps so not to be messed with ) have got it right, but DH seems to think Walkers are right with their blue for cheese and onion weirdness and green salt and vinegar.

You are correct and NBU.

piratecat · 12/02/2011 15:28

Golden wonder, the king crisp, back in the day had it the correct way round.

green cheese and onion

blue salt and vinegar.

I think it was Walkers who introduced the S&V in a green packet thing.

Doesn't stop me from eating them though Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/02/2011 15:32

YANBU. What has blue got to do with cheese or onion, green is far more appropriate. Blue is the colour of the sea (allegedly) and makes you think of fish and chips, which makes you think of salt and vinegar.

My friend's parents had an Avenger car in the 1970s that was, I swear, Golden Wonder Salt and Vinegar blue. Bit random I know but I thought I'd share that wtih you.

YANBU
Walkers have it the wrong way round.
and bring back the proper artificial cheesy wotsits I say.

nickelbabe · 12/02/2011 15:34

i think it was because walker's introduced sal and vinegar and made it green.
cheese and onion didn't come along for a long time, and by that point people were used to green being salt and vinegar.

co-op cheese and onion are green.

hambo · 12/02/2011 15:34

AnnoyingOrange · 12/02/2011 15:56

I agree with the op

HeavenForfend · 12/02/2011 15:59

Yeah, but Golden Wonder's plain crisps were dark blue, which is also wrong.

YANBU about cheese n onion though. Visiting relatives in the Midlands in the 70s I was outraged by the wrongly colour-coded Walkers packets.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 12/02/2011 16:00

It was part of Walkers marketing ploy...to take over the crisp market. They changed the obvious so they stuck out.

LostArtOfKeepingASecret · 12/02/2011 16:04

"At last a truly worthy cause for a Mumsnet campaign", so true.

I've just bought a jumbo pack of C&O crisps thinking they were S&V. Oh the disappointment.

mitochondria · 12/02/2011 16:06

Walkers are wrong.

Cheese and onion crisps are just vile, anyway, and should be banned.

valiumredhead · 12/02/2011 16:20
