DP has got it on - every so often I look up at Mel Gibson's vile face and blowdry and hurl insults at the screen.

Me: it's SHITE. I bet all the Scots in the world think it's SHITE as well

Actually Tin Cup is ok on the KC front, really rather watchable.

My worst is Starship Troopers. made even worse by everyone after going 'no it was just ironic - you're just too stupid to understand' No it wasnt, it was just shite.

begonyabampot · 12/02/2011 23:15

Also like Starship Troopers - the director was taking the piss out of the whole American's saving the day. And anyway as I recall the troopers were from Brasil if I remember correctly.

merrywidow · 12/02/2011 23:15

all i have to say is 2012

begonyabampot · 12/02/2011 23:15

Or Brazil even.

So i've heard but never seen it. Not a big Terry Gilliam fan tough liked the new Dr Parnasaus one. Baron Munchausen bored me rigid.

Haha -I was also at 6th form college with CMcC!

always thought she never did as well for herself as we all thought she would do when she was in B'heart...probably only me, justone and my DH (also at A'college) who can even name her.

Anyway, have lived in Scotland - and BH always recieved lots of cheers. It's a load of tosh but not the worst I have ever seen. Titanic...that is utter crapola.

melezka · 12/02/2011 23:37

Ha there are a few who later appear in Harry Potter in Braveheart.

I too loved Mel in the early days. Soooo sad.

But I second Pearl Harbour as worse - anyone remember the song about it from Team America?

begonyabampot · 12/02/2011 23:40

Just remembered the turd that was ' Couples Retreat' - has to be worse than anything listed here.

EldritchCleavage · 12/02/2011 23:57

When I saw Braveheart in London everyone roared with laughter at the great rousing pre-battle speech then jeered until the end.

The (unintentionally) best bit in Independence Day was the montage of 'minor contributions to the fight against the aliens by other nations'. The whole of Africa was represented by an obviously not East African boy wearing a red Masai cloth and carrying a spear running out of the bush to gaze at the alien hip. The Kenyan friend sitting next to me started bellowing 'Oh for fuck's sake!' at the screen.

Tend to agree re Kevin Costner except for 'No Way Out' which is briliant. Candidate for worst ever is some wannabe psychological thriller thing starring Richard Gere and Kim Basinger. So bad I fell asleep in the cinema and can't remember the name.

EldritchCleavage · 12/02/2011 23:57

Sorry, 'ship' not 'hip'.

begonyabampot · 13/02/2011 00:09

No Way Out was a great movie. Real white knuckle roller coaster ride! Love me movies i do - real movie geek!

EldritchCleavage · 13/02/2011 00:11

Pity Sean Young didn't do more. I liked her. Mad as a cut snake though, apparently.

i will NOT have a word said against Tin Cup.

EldritchCleavage · 13/02/2011 00:46

Is Tin Cup the Susan Sarandon one? In which case I rather enjoyed it.

Aitch · 13/02/2011 00:49

no that's bull durham. also good. tin cup is that big-chinned former model and cheech marin.

Aitch · 13/02/2011 00:50

renee russo, she's very good in it iirc.

EldritchCleavage · 13/02/2011 00:51

Well credit to Kev for casting women of vaguely the same generation instead of 30 years younger, I suppose.

Aitch · 13/02/2011 00:54

credit probably goes to ron shelton who directed and possibly even wrote both, but yes, absolutely, two intelligent, elegant performances from intelligent, elegant women.

begonyabampot · 13/02/2011 00:56

Tin Cup was funny and touching. Who thought a movie about golf could be so watchable.

Spenguin · 13/02/2011 00:57

Was anyone else 'WTF?' when Keira CatsBum snogged her DH's best friend when he came over with his stereo and flashcards?

The schhlag!

Spenguin · 13/02/2011 00:59

Was once stuck in a cinema screening of 'Final Fantasy 10 Million or something'

I tried to suffocate myself in the popcorn

iscream · 13/02/2011 01:14

I did see braveheart years ago, with my ds, it was "ok". Can't stand Mel Gibson, or Tom Cruise, so do not watch anything they are in. Shudder.
