DP has got it on - every so often I look up at Mel Gibson's vile face and blowdry and hurl insults at the screen.

Me: it's SHITE. I bet all the Scots in the world think it's SHITE as well

I knew I'd seen him before!

Shodan · 11/02/2011 23:42

I saw 2012 at the cinema. It went on for so long that my buttocks virtually welded themselves to the seat. There was a lot of muttering along the lines of 'Christ! Not another bloody disaster! Why don't they all just die and have done with it. Oh for God's sake! They're having another one! Just die, you bastards!'

However. I do not count it as much of a waste of my good life hours as The Piano. That was the dullest film ever made. At least Independence Day, Braveheart etc had the decency to be amusingly entertaining.

Shodan · 11/02/2011 23:44

Although Mel Gibson, of course, has bizarrely short arms. How he ever reached the axy thingy with a spiky ball on it (technical term) from behind his back I'll never know. It must have been plaited into his wig.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/02/2011 23:48

Ha!

I just told DP that WW couldn't have had an affair with the english princess bird, as she would have been 9.

He says 'you and your mumsnet mates have ruinedt his film for me'

I still remember wanting to escape the cinema when DH persuaded us that Pearl Harbour would be entertaining. Fucking awful.

I was a student in Edinburgh when Braveheart came out - people cheered in the cinema. it was most amusing.

As a piece of lighthearted tat, it is watchable. DH loves it, you may not be surprised to hear...

i had high hopes for 2012 and it was utter shit soooo disappointed!

JoBettany · 12/02/2011 13:42

I watched Braveheart at the cinema in Scotland. I can confirm there was lots of cheering and shouting during the film. All very embarrassing as it has to be one of the silliest films I've ever seen.

mamadiva · 12/02/2011 14:05

I am Scottish, think I was about 10 when the movie came out so never seen it in the Cinema.

Did watch it on video though and it was shit then and still is now! Although I too always liked Steven 'I just spoke to the good lord and he said we're all fucked' :o

Was'nt William Walace Welsh or is that a myth?

I love, love, love SHutter Island for some reason I have recently developed a thing for Leonardo Dicaprio right enough so I may be biased LOL

Maud2011 · 12/02/2011 20:11

Mamadiva, William Wallace was from Elderslie in (what is now) Renfrewshire, so I doubt he was Welsh... but one story I have heard is that he employed shedloads of English mercenaries Grin. No idea whether it is or not though.

expatinscotland · 12/02/2011 20:15

Oh, step off! Titanic and Pearl Harbor far worse. I think they should be used as forms of torture, in fact.

expatinscotland · 12/02/2011 20:18

I'd rather watch Braveheart every night from now till the world ends than even 1 minute of 'Love Actually' or 'The Holiday'.

Gah, they are shite.

susiedaisy · 12/02/2011 20:48

oohh i have Knowing and its good, a real hidden gem, no one else that i mention it to has heard of it.

linziluv · 12/02/2011 20:51

No idea...not seen in but really loving the phrase "wankingly awful" lol...I can see that catching on!
