A friend just had her fourth baby. Money is tight so I went through my dc's old baby clothes and picked out the loveliest things that were in the best condition.
She seemed very grateful but this morning at school I noticed her dog was wearing one of the newborn sweaters that I had included. It was a Polarn o. Pyret, excellent condition and quality.
She saw me looking and gave a shrug and a smile but was gone by the time I had dropped the children off.
Would you approach her on it?
Should I ask her for the other clothes back?
I don't want them adorning her mutt, thank you very much

She dresses her dog.

You should never speak to her again.

manicbmc · 04/02/2011 11:46

Shrug it off as you've already given them. But I wouldn't be offering her anything else ever. She sounds like a right ungrateful cow.

MrSpoc · 04/02/2011 11:46

but you have given them to her. you obviously did not need them. Now they are her's she can do as she likes.

But granted it would piss me off a little.

RJRabbit · 04/02/2011 11:46

YANBU. God, how rude!

mrsscoob · 04/02/2011 11:47

ha ha ha!! that did make me chuckle! No you shouldn't ask for them back! You gave them to her and well if she decides to dress her dog in them then it is her (admittedly strange and odd ) decision.

Katisha · 04/02/2011 11:48

That seems very bizarre. Are her dogs often seen out in human clothing?

laosvher · 04/02/2011 11:48

You've given them away, it's up to her to do what she will with them.
But really, baby clothes on a dog? :o how peculiar

gordyslovesheep · 04/02/2011 11:49

oh that is a bit off - but very funny sorry!

KirstyJC · 04/02/2011 11:49

A bit thoughtless of her to take the dog somewhere you were likely to be - she must have known there was a good chance you would see it and presumeably she realises you gave them to her for the baby not the dog.

Yes, you gave them to her but still, she was taking the piss.

mutznutz · 04/02/2011 11:49

I'm so sorry but I really am doubled up laughing here...I have no idea why though LMAO!!

Yes it's very rude of her...but still PMSL

I know that's no much help Blush

bubblewrapped · 04/02/2011 11:49

Maybe the dog was cold. Maybe the older kids dressed the dog up. Maybe the item doesnt fit the baby.

You gave it, it is hers to do as she wishes with.

I would have found it very amusing, and certainly not got the hump over it.

MsKLo · 04/02/2011 11:49

DOnt give her anything again

An yes I would ask her why she gave it to the dog to wear - what a rude cow!

FlamingoBingo · 04/02/2011 11:50

YANBU to be pissed off

YABU to be friends with a nutcase who dresses her dog!

Ormirian · 04/02/2011 11:50

How old are her older children? Could they have done it? It's the kind of thing mine would try to do.

PepperMoonchild · 04/02/2011 11:50

Though it's funny to read about, it would piss me off too. I wouldn't give anything else to her.

gramercy · 04/02/2011 11:51

Hee hee - I needed a laugh.

You can dine out for years on that story.

swanandduck · 04/02/2011 11:51

It was very rude. Don't waste anymore clothes on her. Give them to people who will apprecieate them.

mutznutz · 04/02/2011 11:52

Still on the other hand...if she thought the clothes weren't even fit for the dog you'd be more insulted Grin

catwhiskers10 · 04/02/2011 11:52

I had to laugh when I read that. :)
If I were you I wouldn't be too happy either but you gave her the clothes so really, she can do what she wants with them, i wouldn't ask for them back. At least they are being used!

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2011 11:53

You gave her a present, she clearly likes it and uses it. Be happy.

She is also clearly a bit mad, as she put clothes on her dog.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 04/02/2011 11:54

Agree with msklo- she sounds a bit nuts!

mrsruffallo · 04/02/2011 11:57

Thank you for your replies.
The dog is one of those strange hairless chihuahua ones that shivers constantly. I HAVE seen him in a little Dog coat before but not baby clothes.
She must have cut extra holes into this beautiful navy sweater that my baby wore.

She is very rude IMO, but you are clearly still (understandably) attached to your babies' clothes and shouldn't have given them away. Never give or lend anything if you still care what happens to it.

bubblewrapped · 04/02/2011 12:00

Those sort of dogs do have to wear something to protect them when they go out. Its a necessity, not a fashion statement.

Dog clothes can be quite expensive actually.. so I really wouldnt be too huffy about it. Maybe the jumper didnt fit the baby, and she still wanted to put it to good use.
