A friend just had her fourth baby. Money is tight so I went through my dc's old baby clothes and picked out the loveliest things that were in the best condition.
She seemed very grateful but this morning at school I noticed her dog was wearing one of the newborn sweaters that I had included. It was a Polarn o. Pyret, excellent condition and quality.
She saw me looking and gave a shrug and a smile but was gone by the time I had dropped the children off.
Would you approach her on it?
Should I ask her for the other clothes back?
I don't want them adorning her mutt, thank you very much

Shock well thats one way of getting rid of the kids for a few days.. Wink

Perhaps is she is so poor, she needed something for the dog and thought your jumper was it.

Not really sure why 'It was a Polarn o. Pyret,'
is relevant. You didn't want it, you GAVE it to her and she used it.

Why the big deal?

Now if you had have lent it to her, then well I could see the problem..

mrsruffallo - although I admit I giggled at your OP (simply because this woman quite frankly sounds mad) I can totally see where you are coming from.

You kindly gave away some baby clothes (some of them with much sentimental value) in good faith to a woman you believe to be in need. And then she turns up at school with one of these pre-loved items on her, erm, dog. What a lot of front she has doing this, I'll admit.

Still, they are now her items to do with as she pleases, so it won't do any good asking for them back. The next time you see her just look over with a sympathetic smile and shake your head... then walk straight past.

Short hair dogs used to centrally heated houses get bloody cold outside in the nip! I have a staffy pup and hes constantly shivering. Dog clothes are expensive so i save the kids jumpers for sewing into dog clothes. Lots of the things my kids wear have been given by someone, should i only reuse the stuff i bought? dont want them thinking i dont appreciate their kind offerings, i do use them on the kids first. This is so funny!

I would be quite cross and peeved in your situation but I wouldn't approach her about it or ask for the clothes back. They've been given and they're hers to do with as she sees fit (but, honestly, the dog???).
I just wouldn't give her any more clothes and try to put this behind me.

Sorry, although I know I would be hurt, I just can't stop laughing. How bizarre - a child's jumper on a dog Grin

This reminds me of when I gace a friend of mine a lot of lovely clothes of mine when she was going back to work, post kids- DVF dresses, Hobbs suits etc etc. I did see her in a couple.
Then- one day a mutual friend, K, and I were talking and she said 'Oh Tina gave me some of your things that she didn't think suited her I hope you don't mind'? (I did a bit but would probably have given them to her anyway) She then went ON to say 'I sold them on eBay and got over two hundred quid so I can do that girlie spa weekend with Stella now' (I had had to turn that down because I couldn't afford it at the time!) and just to further knock the nail in, she ended 'You really should try eBay'!

I managed to grind out that I sell a LOT on ebay but this had been my gift to Tina!
When I asked Tina about it she said 'I thought if you gave them to me you couldn't need the money as much as K'!!! GEEEEE
