Why do people say it? I don't like it and think people who say it should have an immediate custodial sentence.

I mean, what IS their point? Confused

Because they think that someone else hasn't, and should be punished for it?

clumsymumluckybaby · 27/01/2011 23:18

drives me up the fucking wall.

and it's generally utter bullshit.

jenandberry · 27/01/2011 23:19

I have managed to day dream for significant proportion of mine.

i hear it alot in my work place (hospital) especially when operations get cancelled.

they tend to think that after 40 years of paying into the NHS they deserve to be treated (which i agree)

edam · 27/01/2011 23:23

I think it's a clear sign that the person concerned hasn't actually worked that hard. But resents the idea that the poor might not be thrown on the streets to starve.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 27/01/2011 23:23

Well, I haven't worked a day in my life, except for making the groove on my side of the sofa deeper, and I don't care...

Ooohhh, tell a lie, I had a paper round when I was 13 [bwink]

edam · 27/01/2011 23:23

Cross post with Bluddy, that's a very sad story.

Rhinestone · 27/01/2011 23:24

Sad at BluddyMoFo's old people.

Agree with OP, immediate custodial sentence for anyone who utters this tripe, with the exception of BluddyMoFo's old people and any other old people in similar situation.

You've actually made me tear up a little bit BMF!

But then I'm a bit soft!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 27/01/2011 23:28

That is sad BMF [bsad]

Rhinestone · 27/01/2011 23:29

P.S. Could you collect unwanted postcards that people have been sent and do a nice scrapbook for them? Or apply to Secret Millionaire on their behalf?

Feeling really quite fucked off at the unfairness of life now.

woollyideas · 27/01/2011 23:29

Yeah, do you mind BMF? I was hoping to get a rant going.

Mssoul · 27/01/2011 23:31

Bluddy Sad It is a really fucking annoying thing to say, but I can see where they are coming from.

Fucking hard working show-offs. What a bunch of cunts.

Is that better woolly? [grin}

pascoe28 · 27/01/2011 23:33

edam/BTP etc - some very stupid knee-jerk posts from the predictable lefties on here.

Please to see some humility on reading a sobering tale. Maybe re-consider your prejudices about people who have worked all their lives in future?

Thanks, Rhinestone. That's much better. Who's this pascoe bloke?

OP posts:
pascoe28 · 27/01/2011 23:38

BTP - if their ideas weren't so damaging and energy-sapping, I'd let them be.

But they get up every day, seeking to undo the hard work people like me have put into building companies and providing for their families...therefore I must do the same, with increased vigour.

They must be opposed at every opportunity.

missalien · 27/01/2011 23:40

There is a thread I am on at the moment with this in. Along with all sorts of other smug snobbery and its made me so so angry and upset and ashamed to be a mumsnetter
