Oh dear - sorry, can't say I have an icky job.

But I do have to force myself to drink a bottle couple of glasses of wine and eat a select chocolate or two.

Does that help?

Milngavie · 21/01/2011 18:14

Aw no! Have you got all the stuff you need, combs, lotions, etc?

Not the best way to spend a Friday night.

GypsyMoth · 21/01/2011 18:16

oooh...lovely!!

squash them between your thumbnails to kill them, they make a satisfying 'crack' sound!

PatPending · 21/01/2011 18:16

Ah but Milngavie - surely you will have the icky job of enteraining your DH's friend tonight!
Or did he get the hint - missed the rest of the thread!

upahill · 21/01/2011 18:19

Not nice ltyhia.

I'm trying to tame DS1 14 who is in a teenage rage against everything at the moment and I'm getting very close to the edge tbh.

I'd rather be de nitting than having a raging 6ft male ranting!!

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/01/2011 18:22

Blimey! that's nothing.

I've got a job 100x ickier:

Deal with what's left from a pan of home-made cream of leek and potato soup, cooked by moi on Tuesday night, and for some reason inexplicably left in the pan on the hob by dh. I was at work Wed and Thu and he did the kitchen those days but clearly thought it was a good idea to leave that soup just sitting on the hob, gently festering.

HughRinal · 21/01/2011 18:24

I'm on worm watch with a torch

NorbertDentressangle · 21/01/2011 18:26

I have a cat who needs her anal glands squeezing/clearing if anyone wants an ickier job Wink

upahill · 21/01/2011 18:28

Norbert.

I don't know anything about cats.

Why do you have to do that?

PeeringIntoTheWintryVoid · 21/01/2011 18:34

I discovered this week that DD has nits, and have adopted a novel approach - hair straighteners. You have to get really close into the roots, but you can actually hear the eggs sizzle. Grin It made combing through with the nit comb really easy too. Wink

NorbertDentressangle · 21/01/2011 18:34

upahill -not sure why it happens but you know when you see cats or dogs doing that thing where they sit down and literally drag their arses along the ground by scooting forwards using their front legs (it is the funniest thing ever to watch!) well thats an indication that the anal glands are blocked or irritated in some way.

We get the vet to do it (well DP does as I don't think I could stomach it!). Apparently it is really, really foul.

ilythia · 21/01/2011 18:37

squeezing anal glands?

You win.

have done worm watch, as long as you dont find any it's not that bad!

Have combs/conditioner and also wine and chocolate.

deemented · 21/01/2011 18:38

Thank Ilythia.

Now itching.

Ignoring anal glands.

thisisyesterday · 21/01/2011 18:40

omg patpending I totally read that as

" surely you will have the icky job of entering your DH's friend tonight!"

pmsl

NorbertDentressangle · 21/01/2011 18:41
(for those who don't know what I mean)
RamonaFlowers · 21/01/2011 18:41

Worm watch? For thread worms? Please explain......

nannynobnobs · 21/01/2011 18:42

I have had to do my hair before Ilythia... It's not so bad. If you squeeze them between your fingernails they go with a crack and it feels like a small measure of revenge, seeing as they have YOUR BLOOD inside them!!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/01/2011 18:43

Norbert wins. There is nothing more to be said.

Except that I am about to go and break my childrens hearts by telling them we are no longer getting a dog and a cat as promised.

Wink
NorbertDentressangle · 21/01/2011 18:45

I'm not really the winner though I'm afraid as I'm not going to actually do it......that task awaits someone with a much stronger stomach than me.

Any volunteers???

Teaandcakeplease · 21/01/2011 18:48

My son pooed in the lounge just after bath time before I could get the nappy on him and has spread it about, so that's my job now he's in bed.

GroovyGretel · 21/01/2011 18:49

Oh the many happy hours spent on holiday in the south of france [snob or possibly nouveau emoticon] spraying eco friendly nit lotion, applying hideous massive amounts of chemical when aforementioned eco friendly nit lotion entirely failed to fucking work, pulling electrical nit comb purchased at huge expense through salt knotted hair, then realising that I had them worse than the children [boak].

Anal glands - hah, easy by comparison.

noodle69 · 21/01/2011 18:55

Lol I work in a nursery I have some nits in my hair every couple of weeks. Its no big deal.

PatPending · 21/01/2011 18:55

thisisyesterday - that'll be because I left the "t" out - Blush

Norbert - James Herriot was always evacuating Tricky Woo's anal glands in "All Creatures Great and Small"!!!

ilythia · 21/01/2011 19:15

Stop telling me to squeeze them between my fingernails you sadists!

I have done it before, and while I can merrily comb away at the DD's (ooh, there's loads there, mwahahaha) If I spot one on mine I get all weepy.

Um..yes, dee. You might want to check your dd. sorryGrin (although dd1 was pretty bad, but dd2 only had a few)

5Foot5 · 21/01/2011 19:18

"Stop telling me to squeeze them between my fingernails you sadists!"

Oh for a minute there I thought you meant the anal glands.

I wonder why it happens? Can humans get it?
