I know there are millions of threads going on at the moment.

So this one is just an AIBU reminder to keep up some positive action.

It might be money that you give to a charity or practical help you give someone you know who is struggling.

It might be a fact that you have learned that has changed your perception of how people with disabilities survive manage in this country.

If you know a bit about disability, maybe you can post to help inform others.

Let's get as many posts on this thread as on all the others combined. Then I shall eat my words about MN not being powerful and join in the backslapping Grin

There is a more practical thread going on in Mumsnet campaigns but I am useless at linking, so if anyone can help please do.

PLEASE, if you can think of nothing (or even if you can think of loads) EMAIL THE DLA CONSULTATION and state that you want the government's assurances that any reforms will result in increased real-term support for people with disabilities and their carers: [email protected]

jenandberry · 20/01/2011 18:54

Some of us live with disabilty day in and day out, I think that counts for a lot more than updating a tweet,

working9while5: I can see where you are coming from.

FWIW today I have helped my disabled mum with her shopping and been to work, which includes working with children with disabilities. Not today, but this month, my direct debit went out to a local children's disability charity. I also volunteer with the same charity, although not as much as I used to now that I have my own children too. Oh, and I am helping my son translate jokes into sign language so that he can share them with his friend (who is deaf).

I'm sure that lots of people on MN do a huge amount day in day out for people with disabilities. OK so the Tweets and emails and media attention are the "big" news, but when it all as all died down (hopefully with a good resolution) then those people will still be doing the same.

someone smiling at my daughter (who is, of course gorgeous), and not blanking her and walking away when she says something random (yet often true - eg "this way is right" accompanied by a big point to the right).

someone not looking at us like we are completely weird because dd1 is flapping, or squeaking, or holding my hand and skipping along (she is a very tall 6).

people not getting uppity when she lies on the floor.

all these htings are htings I would count as doing somehting to help a disable dfamily.

it's not a lot.
but it means the world to us.
