Ah, it has an accent? How very very continental.

I'm ok dd has School Exam soon and seems to have forgotten all her maths which I am singulalry unable to help with as I can only add and take away. I have emailed her maths teacher in a panic. She will be cross.

How's your little continental selflet?

I love a squashed fly. Not had one in years. Good dunkers.

Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:26

Yes, funny old biscuits, and yet really quite nice.

We could do umami hugenots as a savoury alternative... ( taste like zee chicken, mais not?)

Oh lovely gals. Cheer me up . I am variiee discombobulated this morning. Dh is away, ds1s school are combusting over his oxford thingy and all this carer talk has thrown me (very self obsessed but I figure riven has wafts of love enough to share)

Is maths crisis going to be alright hull.

BeribbonedGibbon · 20/01/2011 10:34

Was all OK at the school Pagster?

I would have done the same Hully - I am dreadful at maths. I always try to blag it saying I was more of an English/Drama sort. It doesn't fool anyone.

DH works in finance and is a whizz with numbers. He tries not to giggle when I have to use my fingers to count.

Jins · 20/01/2011 10:35

Get the kettle on - my car insurance quote has arrived and I am in shock

BeribbonedGibbon · 20/01/2011 10:37

Cross post Pag my darling - what are the school saying re the oxford thingy? And you are not self obsessed woman. Less of that talk please

pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:39

Lol at counting on fingers. I recall almost splitting my sides when ds1 asked if I could help him with his Latin.

' no sweetheart. After my education I can help you break into a car though' Grin.

Schools fine. Just turns out ds2 got an absoloutely fantabulous entry exam result and school want to ask oxford to explain. Having just got ds1s chin back up again the school are v.keen for him to reapply next year. V. Confuddling... Although it has made him feel a bit less crushed by failing to get in which is good.

Sorry. Whiney cow this am...

pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:41

Poor jins. I probably should not make and more car breaking and entering jokes...

I am whiney. Ds2 is 14 and in a few years will stop going to school and then I will be the odd woman who wanders around town with her odd son.
It ain't much of a vista to be honest

Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:42

What are the school doing? Do they want to protest?

Hope maths thing will be all right (by magic), don't really know. Will wait to hear from maths teacher, who has always said she is good at maths...

Jins, if you didn't keep running people over, it wouldn't cost so much.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:44

Pag, you will have to hire a carer/friend for ds2 who can wander round town with him three days a week. Really. You will. And you will find a nice person that you can train to death.

Could ds1 work at the paper where he did work experience for a year if trying agian..? Mind you, he'd never want to go then.

OP posts:
BeribbonedGibbon · 20/01/2011 10:44

' no sweetheart. After my education I can help you break into a car though' - made me lol in RL Grin

Wow, talk about mixed emotions. On one hand, how great to know he did so well Grin but then you're left thinking...well then why the rejection?'Confused

I would be feeling exactly the same as you my darling. Is DH back soon?

Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:45

But the rejection isn't him per se, it's a numbers game. English is phenomenally hard to get into at Ox/Camb.

OP posts:
pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:48

But jins needs a hobby hully.

Yep. The school usually get about 40 boys into Oxbridge so they know that entry can be unpredictable but ds1s elat score Confused was apparently one of the best they have had in years and they had him down as very likely. So they want some feedback but are suggesting to us that he should try again.
He is still ' nah, fuck em' but you can see him thinking about it.

I am trying not to say a bloody word because when he leaves this September life will get harder. I really don't want the fact that he helps with ds2s care affect him. And it makes me feel bloody selfish.

Oh bugger. Gin and bed I think

BeribbonedGibbon · 20/01/2011 10:49

I agree with Hully Pag - getting some help in with DS2 is a good plan.

If I lived nearer, I would walk with you Smile

pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:51

The wandering arou d town will be a bit funny though. Hecwill be a big boy and I will be dreadful cougar woman Grin.

I am just being a Jessie.
And I am trying wee plan lets.. I have been looking at whether a fairly stupid person could open a shop. Me and ds could be the odd shop people and ds2 could keep the shelves uber tidy Grin

Jins · 20/01/2011 10:51

Gin and bed sounds like a plan. I'd let him reach his own conclusion on this one Pag. Nah fuck em is a great attitude to base yourself

I haven't run over that many people Hully and they asked for it. I don't see why the insurance company wants my life savings now.

Might change my car actually

pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:53

You are both very sensible and nice. Yes, I will find people to take him to cinema etc while I shag the window cleaner keep house.

Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:54

Paggy.

Life is complicated. And families are all meshed up together (or should be). Of course his leaving will affect the dynamic and the help with ds2, even if ds2 was fine and dandy everything would change. There is nothing wrong with being sad about change and worrying about how things will work, it doesn't make you selfish, just honest.

His being involved and part of the family and caring for ds2 helps make him the person you love, and the person that others love/will love.

And there are too many difficult decisions, should he wait? It's a risk, is it worth it etc etc? Not knowing what to think is a still valid with or without ds2 as a factor.

Start doing vague investigations into all sorts of walkers for ds2 now, just little initial looks for organisations etc. Arm yourself with knowledge. And action always makes one feel better (my mum says).

BeribbonedGibbon · 20/01/2011 10:54

Pag

You are not self obsessed, whiney or selfish.

You are nothing but caring, fabulously patient, loving and wickedly funny. You do a hard job my darling. You have this darling boy who you love so much your heart could burst with love but it is still tough on you. And your heart. Your love for your children is evident in everything you do and say. Don't you ever give youself a hard time for finding it tough some days.

pagwatch · 20/01/2011 10:55

Jins they said on the radio that if you add careful elderly types as additional drivers then you get reductions. And you can haggle apparently.

Hullygully · 20/01/2011 10:55

dreadful cougar woman

hee hee hee hee

For shops, what about Cool Cougar Clothes?

OP posts:
Umami · 20/01/2011 10:56

That could be addressed to anyone.

Umami · 20/01/2011 10:57

Hmmm. Nothing I say is making sense today. My legs are cold and I need a wee.
