To not really care what other people earn, how big their houses are and whether or not they send their children to private schools or down mines?

It's all getting a bit much on here- every other thread seems to be whinging about other people's financal situation, whether it be on benefits or high wages. Is this just what happens in a recession? Or is it shiny Dave?

Totally with TanteAC. My standards are so far short of others, no nanny, no hols, no ponies . Still, I like knowing who's rich and who's not.

Mines? We are too poor to have mines. We just dig holes in the ground and pretend that they are mines in order to send them down. We used to pretend to send them up chimneys, but as we are too poor to have a house it was difficult.

Coming from another country, I find the British fixation with class and money alien .... there will always be those earning less than you and those earning more than you. Poverty and being financially pinched is a subjective thing and the less said the better ..

Oh I love knowing all those things but then I am horrendously nosey. I do agree there's been a terrible rash of them lately though.

I am not interested in what people earn but I love love love looking at other people's houses - more so than their children or dogs tbh!

I absolutely want to know who chooses private school over state, tis of great interest to me that one.
