Dyed my hair fuschia pink lastnight and i bloody love it!! Im a bit of a rock/punk chick so it suits me down to the ground - but i am also 25 with 3 children!!

Gasps of horror at the school gates this morning taking DD in - and then my mother tells me its 'inappropriate and embarassing when i have children'

So is it inappropriate for a mother to have bright pink hair or shall i tell my mother to naff off!!??

Erm, brave I s'pose.

Am surprised people are that interested tbh

ZacharyQuack · 17/01/2011 10:45

God, my DDs would love it if I had pink hair.

ZacharyQuack · 17/01/2011 10:46

DD2's favourite creche worker had bright pink dreadlocks. She was very popular with the wee girls!

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 17/01/2011 10:46

So was i tbh but i think i just gave them a bit of a shock!!

Ffs at inappropriate. Love bright pink hair, have had it myself in the past

A naff off is required me thinks

TryLikingClarity · 17/01/2011 10:48

Some people are dull and want everyone else to be too.

Your hair do style whatever way you want.

YANBU.

DooinMeCleanin · 17/01/2011 10:48

Dd1 is desperate for pink or purple hair. I have blond slices in mine that I occassionally dye vivid colours. Dd1 is always most dissapointed when she learns they are just temporary.

She is certainly not embarrassed. YANBU.

2blessed2bstressed · 17/01/2011 10:48

My hair's pink, and I'm a lot older than you, been like this for so long that noone bats an eyelid. If you like it, stuff 'em Grin

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 17/01/2011 10:49

mine used to be purple, loved it and so did my girls

I would love bright pink

just ignore them

GelflinGirl · 17/01/2011 10:49

Go for it and tell your mum to bog off! You like it, your kids like it so thats all that matters! I used to have bright pink hair, and lots of other colours too. Its fun, why not..............

tbh the other mums probably wish they could be like you! Wink

GypsyMoth · 17/01/2011 10:49

2 mums at our school have short spiky shocking pink hair.......but they are both the aggressive types, so nobody tends to look at them for too long

One dc does look embarrassed, but more to do with the shouty demeanor than the hair I think.

OnlyWantsOne · 17/01/2011 10:49

I want to see photos :)

Onetoomanycornettos · 17/01/2011 10:49

Absolutely fine if you like it, don't think there are any regulations about hair colour after motherhood!

Nagoo · 17/01/2011 10:49

YANBU mine's pillarbox red. I'm 32.

I'm going pink next so I stop clashing with dd in her pink babygrows Wink

You using directions? It's legendary.

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 17/01/2011 10:51

Thankyou :) feel a bit better now!! I do love it - and my daughters do too!!

Feel like im 15 again - my mum just text me saying just wait til your father sees it!!

Memoo · 17/01/2011 10:51

It's nobody elses business, if you like it that's all that matters.

Although tbh there is a mum at our school with pink hair and it looks a bit naff, like she is a wannabe.

onmyfeet · 17/01/2011 10:51

A mother is a person too, and having pink hair is nothing bad if it suits you. Sounds like it does from what you say.

Think pink!

crisptart · 17/01/2011 10:51

I think your hair sounds ace and I'm 33 lol! Wish I had the guts to dye my hair something loud, I'd love purple hair but not got the guts anymore :-) Will pluck up the courage to one of these days lol!
AS for the other mums, bet they're just jealous they've got boring hair and have nowt better to do than comment on yours.
Who says when you have kids that you suddenly have to join up with the twin set and pearl brigade and be all sensible looking anyway? Hardly setting your kids on the path of immorality and practising bad parenting by having pink hair FGS!
Ignore 'em and enjoy your pink hair! :-)

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 17/01/2011 10:52

directions, whts that??

I have bleavhed blonde hair so the pruple looked fab for about two weeks till all the blue fall out and left me orangey, pinky manky

whatdoiknowanyway · 17/01/2011 10:53

Oh for goodness sake
Your hair
Your business
Sounds great - and I'm old enough to be your mum with white hair myself.

melodyangel · 17/01/2011 10:54

Your 25 do as you bloody well want. Why be dull! Sounds fabulous.

crisptart · 17/01/2011 10:55

oh and lmao at texting 'wait til your dad sees it' that made me giggle! :-) Why do parents do that lol, make you feel about 15 again mine are the same lol! :-)

MummyTo2MonkeysAnd1Bug · 17/01/2011 10:55

Our neighbour is well over 60 but has regular changes of hair colour - bright red, red & green, purple too - all looks very jolly. She's great with DCs and looks after our pets too.
