Scraping and sluicing meant my youngest Dc's bottom looked less like a crusty flapjack.

conniedescending · 14/01/2011 20:42

any of you clothies use reusable toilet wipes?

dry pail [boke]

Normally, I try to play down my lentil weaving eco warrior tendencies in public. Now I find out that there are brigades Grin

MissFit · 14/01/2011 20:45

I agree Connie. It also seems compulsory to have a blog wittering on about cloth nappy use, BLW, slings complete with millions of photos of rainbow coloured nappies and slings with weird names. Blog must really evangelical and earnest and written as if they are the only person in the world to think of bringing up their children in this way.

theresapotatoundermysink · 14/01/2011 20:48

Are you just feeling guilt over your carbon footprint Connie? Let it all out dear, let it all out.

FlyingFig · 14/01/2011 20:51

Connie - how do you flush?

(your turds, I mean)

Sorry for such an intrusive question, but since you asked Smile

nubbins · 14/01/2011 20:52

lol at reuseable toilet wipes, my DH just brought that up!

we don't for the record.

FlyingFig · 14/01/2011 20:52

I wrap mine in brown paper and send them to Andy Akinwolere...

naturalbaby · 14/01/2011 20:53

(Offers Connie & fellow unconverted mums cup of chamomile tea)

conniedescending · 14/01/2011 20:57

i'm really not sure what you mean

I flush the loo

and i'm confused why breastfeeding seems to be connected to cloth nappies and why if you use a sling you have to do blw (I hate that term - otherwise known as eating themselves, well eating their food themselves not actually themselves)

bizarre

OP posts:
FlyingFig · 14/01/2011 21:04

I dunno - starting a ranty thread about how other mothers choose to dispose of their children's waste products seems a bit 'bizarre', to me too!

naturalbaby · 14/01/2011 21:06

(Scrubs breastfeeding off list & adds exclusive, extended breastfeeding)
Better?

MoonUnitAlpha · 14/01/2011 21:08

I use reusable wet wipes - cotton wool wasn't enough to deal with weaning poo.

MsKLo · 14/01/2011 21:09

mooncups... sound messy

conniedescending · 14/01/2011 21:12

but was has exclusive extended bf got to do with cloth nappies?

OP posts:
naturalbaby · 14/01/2011 21:15

Reusable,cloth sanitary pads [grins]

Honeybee79 · 14/01/2011 21:18

Bertie - I've been interested in EC for a while. Where can I find out more?

Connie - why do you care so much what type of nappies other people use?

Why has MN become so mean recently? I haven't been a member that long and I actually feel quite disillusioned and angry. Everyone was so nice on the pregnancy and birth threads . . .

FlyingFig · 14/01/2011 21:19

Nowt as far as I'm concerned, Connie!

The child I BF for the least amount of time wore cloth - and vice versa.

naturalbaby · 14/01/2011 21:22

No further comment (hides long, flowery skirt & pulls out Gina Ford book)

missmehalia · 14/01/2011 21:23

Don't so many of these choices go hand in hand? I am with you a bit, Connie, in that I know a lot of people in RL who all have hard and fast expectations on themselves to HB, BF for years, use terries, a sling, knit yoghurt out of bits of their husband's beard, etc. And either beat themselves up somehow for not doing it all, or make their judgements plain for those who don't do it all. I really do know a few of these.

I could go on about them more, but I won't..

love this thread!

BertieBotts · 14/01/2011 21:24

Honeybee try www.nappyfreebaby.co.uk - and look in the groups section for the yahoo group which is very supportive.

BertieBotts · 14/01/2011 21:28

Oh and there's a forum at www.bornready.co.uk as well.

Honeybee79 · 14/01/2011 21:31

Lovely, thanks Bertie.

pommedeterre · 14/01/2011 21:37

Ah, I always used disposables, switched to ff when bf made me cry and pureed like fuck from 4 months.
I am slummy mummy but I've had a lot of time to teach my baby how to snog up the flip side.
